i used a long standard screw driver to get the grill off. even the two below the headlights. i would push the tabs and pull the grill. nothing special, just took my sweet ass time.

zip ties are a step up from duct tape

 

i believe it. i broke a tab on the corner light just pulling the stupid thing off. need to beat the eng that designed this part of my truck. punch him right in his melon head!

nevermind, i read your stats. you have an auto trans. what kind of trans fluid are you using?

well i work for cheap lol but seriously we can easily change out that line if you need to and swap the tranny fluid in no time

 

the type/brand makes a huge difference as well. i had a syncro issue on my wrx, and changing to a better fluid solved that problem. maybe getting a different mix might help out??

 

it seems like you have only done drain and refill...why not do a complete overhaul and drain all 12 quarts out haha

 

So I spent the last 30 minutes helping the GF in her first mod! Well it actually started out me just cleaning her air filter but after I started peaking around I decided to make it into a mini mod lol



So pictured if the stock air box area which has a little collector behind the grill.



I decided to remove it.







The only thing now that is kind of a concern is what happens when it rains? Does the water get sucked into the inlet and start to collect at the bottom of her air box?

Well in any case first impression by her: I did not really tell her what to expect or what I really did. When she lets off the brake in gear the Jeep seems to move more easily forward. She reports a feel in response moreso at higher RPM. I will see how this goes for the long run because it has given me sort of an idea for my truck but her Jeep is the guinea pig for my idea haha Next thing to do for her is get an AFE Pro Dry filter and maybe a new muffler and lift

 

the air ducts seem to be high and dry. maybe just drill a hole in the bottom of the airbox to drain any water.

X2 on the dry filter. just rinsed my filter out and let it dry. now its good to go

 

Ya i got an afe pro dry s filter and love it thats why i recommended it to her!

And i thought about drilling a hole at the bottom..they would have to be multiple if anything but thats the thing, it seems to be in a very dry area so maybe i will wait for a rainy day take it for a drive and see if any water collects.

I would like to publicly thank my dad for bringing my truck to toyota today to get injectors cleaned, fuel system and brakes flushed, new plugs and wires
