Got my swr meter today and tuned my radio.
    But couldn't get channel 40 below 2.5. 1-20 are at 1.5

Recheck your ground to the CB and make sure when your tuning it, that you're not touching the SWR meter or the coax isn't crossing the jumper cable from the box to the SWR meter...

I'll double check my readings then and make sure everything is isolated like you stated.
Would having the 4 foot antenna be a problem becasue I have the screw all the way down.

No the length of the antenna shouldn't affect you negatively. Might start with it in the middle and adjust from there.

Nope, I have the 4' Firestick and when Taylor tuned mine we almost gave up having the same issue, but then we put the screw to the max top, put the red cap on, reinstalled the antenna and rechecked.... near flawless. (makes no sense but I'm not complaining lol).

If you can't get it in though deffinatly recheck the grounds, and from what I saw you really need to make sure to isolate allt he coax from touching each other and yourself as well (including the SWR box). It's pretty sensitive.

I dunno, maybe it's just me but it seems like my '08 was much better built. It seems like the stuff under is rusting a lot faster on the '10 (actually, the only rust I could find on my last truck was one tiny little surface spot on the frame and inside the hitch from towing stuff... and most of you know it wasn't exactly a street queen either, even drove it up hwy 1 and to the coast several times). Also, the interior trim really seems to not fit as well and flex more.... I dunno just a random observation/rant. Nothing THAT bad but still just kinda... weird.

We were estimating somewhere mid twenties most likely depending on cb traffic... so if you can get it somewhat respectable on 1 and 40 it should be ok.

Bleh looks like I need to re-adjust the skids. The trans skid was a pita to get on with the alignment, now it's shifting under flex (oh the horror sound lol). That shit is torqued down as much as I dared too... need to look into it further tomorrow after work....

Thanks Jake and Taylor for the advice!!
I retuned it and was able to get 1 and 40 both at 1.5.
    20 is almost at 1:1
The chart says that a 1:1.5 is only a 3% power loss so its basicaly perfect.
    a 1:2 is a 11% loss
    a 1:3 is a 25% loss.

I was able to talk to a trucker so the CB is ready to go!

David that's a great tune...you will be fine.

But just so your clear, the SWR is expressed as a ratio so 1:1 is 100% transmition of the signal. So a 1:2 is only 50% and 1:3 is 33% So that's why you want something that's 1.5:1 or lower on all channels. you did good david .
