Any of you first gen boys running aftermarket skids? Which ones and what do you think of them? My stock one is officially toast after last weekend.

I asked him a couple times last year and no response. I'll try again.

Yes. I got some from a group buy on here by that rat products dude. Not too bad. They have held up well. I think if I was to do it again I would redesign how the IFS skid connects into the next "mid" skid. I have had a heck of a time with the nuts that are welded onto the frame from the factory where the back of the IFS skid bolts on.

I saw those... You do 3/16 or 1/8? And did you do the 2 piece or the 3 piece?

How does the 1/8th hold up to dragging across the rocks.

Not bad. Next time we are out you can take a look at them. I also need to put my IFS skid back on this weekend and can take a picture of it then. I did just notice that the front lip of that skid is a little bent from my Moab trip.

    Less length, more girth
Skid Row front and tranny plates for me because they're the only choice. 3/16" thick iirc. The front one is pretty wavy now but still fits. Transmission skid rarely gets hit. Three out of four weld nuts broke off the front subframe so they're rivnuts now.

Anyone big on Bimmers? Looking at a 2003 M3, anywhere particular I should take it for a presale inspection?

Used to be. There was alot of bad batch of bearings that were recalled. Even all the way till 2006 S54's had bad bearings IMO.
My 06 S54 rod bolt backed out at speed and destroyed the crank/cylinder #deadblock #$25KFAILURE

E36/E46's were notorious for rear subframe cracks. You can get Turner reinforcement plates. Its alot of work because it requires you to remove the rear subframe and weld it on, then paint/patch it over. S54 was a anchor of a motor being still iron block, but i loved the rasp.

Oh, don't buy SMG. Gearbox will shit out on you. Buy manual.
