OK, so I went and talked with my friend Ray who owns Prickly Pear Ammo & Reloading. Its a new business he has started and just opened in April. He doesn't have a website up yet but is fully up and running.

He can get factory loads, reload your brass, has bulk reloads, make custom loads using any kind of bullet, powder, primer, and/or case you want, and has access to some crazy new bullet types (solid copper, spun brass, reversible, spun copper, etc).

This is what I am asking for pricing wise at the moment:
    RELOADS
    9mm (250, 500, 1000)
    .40 (250, 500, 1000)
    .45 (250, 500, 1000

    5.56 (100, 250, 500)
    .308 (100, 250, 500)
    30 carbine (100, 250, 500)
    30-06 (100, 250, 500)
    30-30 (100, 250, 500)

    12 gauge
    .22lr

AK/SKS 7.62x39 ammo he does not currently reload. He can not compete with the cost of the cheap eastern block/wolf ammo at this point. If you want a custom load he can do it through. Plus the availability of brass is limited as much of this stuff is steel case

If you have a bunch of empty brass he is willing to take that as a partial trade to cut down on the price.

All of the prices I get will be for initial loads/reloads (some new brass and some reloaded). All his brass is gone over and cleaned, inspected, deburred, etc.

Once we get an initial pricing I can find out who wants what grain and set up things better.

I'm in for at least 500 rounds 5.56. I price is good and cheaper than what's online I'll get 1000 rounds.

Thanks for your help with this.

I 'm interested in 250 - 500 rds 9mm and 250 of .308. Entirely depends on cost and quality. Quality being that I won't run dirty, unreliable shit, even for target, through my firearms. Offensive and killing rnds I'll purchase myself - unless the contact business can set us up nicely.

His stuff is top notch. Everything is cleaned and prepped and done right. I have never had a problem with his ammo. He uses quality powder, primers, and rounds so that wont be a problem. I am sure it will take a couple days for him to get back to me.

Sounds like this may be good stuff. I'm thinking cheaper than Cabela's w/shipping? Would be nice. Even if the price is good, I need to stay focused on my lift - that's my intention right now. I'm covered for ammo currently - I always keep hundreds on hand. Keep us informed and good work!

Sorry for the long delay guys. Here is what I have gotten back price wise, let me know if anyone is interested.

    9mm 115gr RNBB $12.99 box $252.01 per 1000
    115gr FMJ $13.99 box $271.41 per 1000
    124gr FMJ $14.29 box $277.23 per 1000

    40S&W 180gr FPBB $13.99 a box $271.41 per 1000.
    180gr FP Plated $15.25 box $295.85 per 1000
You can save about $40 per 1000 if you provide the brass on the above calibers.

    45ACP 200gr RNBB $14.99 box $290.81 per 1000
    230gr RNBB $15.15 box $293.91 per 1000
    230gr RN plated $15.75 box $305.55 per1000

    38SPL 158gr RNBB $13.99 box $271.41 per 1000
    158gr FP plated $14.99 box $290.81 per 1000
    125gr FP plated $14.29 box $277.23 per 1000

    357 Mag 158gr FP plated $15.99 box $310.21 per 1000
    125gr FP plated $14.99 box $290.81 per 1000

    .223 55gr FMJ $14.25 per 50 $276.45
    62gr FMJ $ 15.10 per 50 $293.91

Save about $65 per 1000 if you provide the brass on above ammo.

308 and other rifle calibers are available, but the price of the components is fluctuating, so I am unable to give a quote until the order is placed.

I am going to put his info up here. You can order directly through him. Your price goes down as you collect your brass and return it to him to reload.

For initial purchase he is on par with online prices if not well under what you can find stuff online at places like Midway USA and others. After that if you provide the spent brass you will get discounts accordingly.

Tell him Chas from Tucson sent you his way.

Yea he is. Over on Oracle by the Tucson Mall.

The initial price is only "OK" but the real savings is when you start returning the brass to him and stuff.

Thats not bad but my guy still has that beat by like $75. I don't blame you.

I have Ray making my a custom .308 round with Match grade ammo and brass pushing 3000 fps. Its a hot load but still within tolerances. I am paying a bit more initially because I am buying all the stuff new but once we begin reloading the price is like half of what you can buy new ammo for.

I would be all over .40S&W.

I really would like to buy bulk Hornady Critical Defense/ Critical Duty for cheap, but I guess I can keep dreaming.... :D

Hahahaha no, didn't have much of it in the first place, and my noob (at the time) brother thought they were the cheap Winchester HP's. Went through 200 rounds. I certainly wanted to strangle him.

I like to go through at least a hundred or so of whatever PD round I am planning on using in each firearm. They are usually loaded a bit hot (the Hornady's certainly are) compared to the regular FMJ range stuff.

EDIT: I am willing to accept the cost in order to be more comfortable with the PD rounds.

E-mail him and ask, I am sure he is more than happy to load what ever you want.

I will unfortunately be in Yuma for the next month working so I will be able to talk with him much. He is currently building me a good match grade .308 round.
