Back in the 60s, pretty much anywhere past the Woods Canyon Lake turn off could be secret. My spot is about 14 miles from there. :anonymous:

Depending on location we usually just text each other the coords. But yes be the squeaky wheel!

I stopped going there about 4 years ago. It is a mad house now. And just gets absolutely trashed.

I used to leave early Saturday and was able to get a nice spot up north. Nowadays I have to leave on Thursday or Friday, cause otherwise all the good spots are taken.

I’m heading out in the morning to go up to Eagar with the camper. My aunt lives up there so going to stay a night with her and see if we can find a nice secret spot to get the camper out to for the second night. Hopefully not too many people, thinking everyone got their dose of camping last weekend.

yeah 87 was closed in both directions friday from about 6pm till about midnight when the southbound lanes opened, then the northbound lanes finally cleared about 5am saturday morning.

there was a crash that cought fire, hazardous material involved. two hot shot crews responded on scene as well as heavy lift tanker helo, two heavy wreckers, 3 flatbeds, one enviromental cleanup crew and one hazmat crew. it was a mess.

edit: northbound is restricted to one lane north of Rye for a couple miles with no timeframe yet for repairs or re-open, so plan accordingly.

Saw my aunt in Eagar and then grabbed a spot at Hoyer Campground last night. Came back to Phoenix today. It was just a quick get away. We plan on going back up to that area more over the next few months.

Well its been a little while. Who is ready to get out of the heat? Or stay in the heat and do our thing on a lake. Maybe some paddle boards, kayaks and such?
