I know Warn is the best of the best but I don't know if I can justify spending that much for an insurance policy while out hunting

 

I think Warn is offering rebates thru the end of the month.

My buggy had a Smittybily on it when I got it. The controller had a bad spot in the wiring. Somewhere in the 4-6 weeks to get a new controller. Warn that was sitting in the garage got installed.

 

I haven't ordered it up yet but if you're in let me know..

I was going to go with the same winch for my new US OFFROAD mount but I think I'm going to go with the X20 instead.

 

Yes, XRC winches are crap. I had an XRC8 waaaaaaaaay back in the day. During my year of ownership I went through 3 solenoid boxes because they are sealed and would corrode (I had it mounted under the hood too) and upon removal I found that the internal gears had locked shut from the crap grease they use and I had to cut my $350 Viking synthetic line just behind the hook in order to remove the winch from my bumper.

Just buy a Warn and be done with it. Buy once cry once. Dont make the same mistake I did.

 

Well I'm glad I got some opinions before I bought it. Did a little more research and the X20 seems to have better specs and reviews than the XRC, plus it comes with a liftetime warranty so if it takes a shit on me I know I'll be covered. And I always carry my come along winch and tow straps with me for some added insurance if the electric winch were to fail.

 

I have an x20 - haven't had a problem with it at all

 

Mine's an X20. Got a great deal from Avid. Have a buddy back east that is a nut case wheeling and uses hit a couple, few times a month in his Heep. Been in that very Heep getting winched, and have had my Taco winched by it many times.

I've only tes run mine so far, but am not worried. I too always have the Straps and HiLift that will winch in an emergency.
