So I'm trying to figure out how to dvr basic TV without buying a Tivo or paying a monthly fee or any of that communism, any body know any program I could combine with Mac or ps3 I could use to solve this?

I briefly heard of myth TV but I'm not sure if its going to work

If I like a movie its not hard to stay awake. Josh and I watched Prometheus, Alien, Alien's, and Alien Resurrection all in one shot.

Didn't get to play it much, my controller is having some calibration issues where it things the z axis is at 100% all the time.. So can't say much yet, but what I did play seemed nice.

Yes sir! The best part of the entire fucking trilogy and still never made it into the Blurays. :(

I've never seen away to use the PS3 as a DVR, that would be kinda hard. A 360 might be more possible.

Why not just build a DVR with a PC? Something like this?

Ps3 was just a suggestion since I have one, but yes building something like that was just what I had in mind, that link looks intimidating though, I'm not looking for that many features though....

I'm sure you can pick and choose what you want feature wise.

You could just look into getting a TV Caputre card and using that. Won't really work like a DVR, more works like an old VCR where you'd have to set the time to record and hope the TV channel doesn't change.

Edit: pretty much step4 and after is extra's that do not need to be installed.. But this isn't that hard of a build, looks more scary that what it is. Mostly just installing software.

During the Florence pre run meet I tired to use GPS on my Note 2 for the first time, and it took almost 15 min to lock GPS in.
I loaded 4 different kernels, 3 roms, tons of patches/fixes, nothing worked for GPS.

Long story short, the hardware is bad, a new one is on the way and I got a replacement phone.

    HTC desire 4g

The only thing this phone makes me desire is a shotgun blast to the face. Dear god this phone is HORRIBLE!

Damn that sucks, my 3S locks really quick most of the time. Once in awhile it doesn't want to, but I've yet to have a phone that hasn't done that

I tested mine the day I got it and it didn't lock super slow, maybe 2-3 minutes which was normal for my HTC EVO. Once I used my wife's S3 and it locked in 5 seconds, it was game on.

    This phone cracks me up.

    Memory: Total: 533 use: 489

WTF? its bone stock and its almost already out of ram. 2 more day, just 2 more days and I'll have my note 2 back with the beautiful MD5 leaked firmware :)

So to chime in on the geek zone, I am going to pull my xbox apart and clean all the crap out of it tonight. The Power supply is making a horrible death rattle.

Hopefully I will get it done before I drink too much... :D

Older 360 elite. It has survived for a long time.

Ok. I have a took that opens the back up really fast and doesn't break any tabs if you want to borrow it.

Also you are going to clean the fans. If they start making noise again replace them. The power supply for the xbox is external.

Or let me water cool it :D

I am doing all the things. internal fans of the main housing and the power supply. Both will most likely have lots of dust/dander/dog fur inside.

Water cooling it would be... cool :p. Just don't really care all too much. Waiting for the new xbox720 or whatever to come out. then 6 months more so they fix a bunch of the god damned problems.

I wouldn't really call that geeking out... it's a pretty widespread and generally accepted genre these days.

I do like some trance or liquid dubstep once in awhile myself. di.fm is great

This guy. I pretty much listen to electronic music all the time.

Depends on what you are doing, but a PC vs. Mac Book, I can build a PC for the same price that will destroy a mac book on every single level when it boils down to performance. Great laptops, but 3k laptop vs 3k desktop, desktop wins hands down.

You could argue the retina display, but I'll argue 3 x27 inch monitors vs 1 17inch retina any day :)

Colby I was going to ask if you could show me some bad ass songs. From personal experience people that have bad ass sound systems tend to know some bad ass songs. I like dubstep of all sorts, electronic, and house music.
