The Nexus 6 is an awesome phone! I figured it would have taken me longer to acclimate to that phone from my somewhat smaller Galaxy S5. Amazingly it only took me a couple of days... and then I was off to the races!

This is the 1st time I've ordered a phone without actually seeing it 1st. I've loved my Nexus 5. It was a great size and having a vanilla build of Android that was always on the bleeding edge of their OS was my favorite part. I can't stand piles of bloatware and manufacturers that take 6+ months to update their phones. They are more concerned with the next device than keeping their production models up to date IMO.

Nexus 6 is a bad ass device. I've been debating about getting one and selling my Note 4 due to lack of root.

Buuuut, leaks on the Note 6 are looking very impressive. And they are going to release a developer edition at the same time as the standard so I can root it right away.

Otherwise I'm going to get me a 'hold me over' phone which will be the Nexus 6 or LG G4.

The Verizon Note 4 is root-able.

Has Motorola phones improved since Lenovo bought them?

Kinda. You can root it, if you reboot you loose root. There is no solid permanent root for it yet. I think if you are on 5.0.1 you can't even do the half assed root.

There is still a 16k bounty if you can root and not trip knox. Root has to be permanent.

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/bounty-verizon-note-4-root-whos-t2916685

What info do you have? I'll try it out.

I've dealt with "temp root" on a couple HTC devices. One of my phones, I sent to a guy who purchased a javacard to root/s-off my phone before an exploit was found.

I didn't see that thread. I saw there are a bunch of ROMs, which usually needs root to install.

Most likely you're looking at the one that's for the developer edition of the note 4. That you can root and do anything you want with which is awesome.

Think you're right. The last Samsung phone I had was the Galaxy Nexus, which was rootable with a single ADB command.

This is the first phone I've been unable to root. Which makes me hate it.

So does it have to be a vanilla version to be rooted?

Why do manufacturers still lock them down?

I would be hesitant to get a g4 unless there's some serious improvements. I've heard from a handful of people who all hated the g3

My wife has the G3 and its pretty good for a cheaper phone. It's not a flagship so I don't expect the best, but it does work. And I'd say it works better than my note 4 does.

This, and because you can do things like free Wi-Fi tether without paying the extra cash for it, removing the carriers bloatware or using services the carrier doesn't want you to use.

Got my Nexus 6 today and it is a mammoth!

2 hours into having it and I almost have it set up. I'm glad I had lollipop on my 5, made the transition easy.
