So somehow I always end up fixing Windows machines. Vista is always horrible to work with. From now on, if someone asks me to fix a Vista install, there only option is fresh install of Win 7 or newer.

Vista? You've got to be kidding. With the prices of PCs nowadays who the fuck still has a Vista machine?

People who get free stuff. This time it's a 5 y/o laptop. It was running unbelievably slow. I could literally make a pot of coffee while it booted up. Almost every Vista install I've dealt with has been like that though.

This only has a Core 2 Duo @ 2GHz. My old single core Turion64 @ 1.8GHz can run faster with XP on it.

I can't wait for my company to start building with SSDs or even Hybrids at this point.

We use SSDs at work in some of our servers. They rock! We have a whole farm that uses them. They seem to last a good while. I haven't had to replace and RMA many.

My work laptop is an Lenovo X1 Carbon and is SSD. Boots so fast

First thing I did when I picked up Lenovo Yoga 2 11 was replace the HDD with a SSD.

Because I work in Aerospace and run drafiting software like Creo and analysis software like Ansys, we really need to get on board with SSDs.

There's always the option of spindle HDD and solid memory caching. Think ultrabook.

The lower capacities are definitely getting cheaper and faster. Maybe I'll replace my 64GB M4 with a couple 120GB 850 EVOs in RAID0.

Just bought a Bluetooth OBDII scanner and now I am waiting to get my hands on a android tablet (I'm thinking a Fire HD) to run the torque pro. Anyone got any recommendations or tips to get the most out of it?

Don't get a fire HD. It's not going to run android apps without loading Google framework on it. I have one. I use it as a coaster and it holds my Note 2 for easy media access.

Haha love the set up. What does the Google framework do?
