That feel good moment when the customer can't say anything on the phone because you just proved they were two things:

    1. Wrong as hell
    2. They are an asshole

Seriously is one of the best parts of my job is telling IT directors "no it's your networks fault and I can prove it". Then shoving so much proof down their fucking pie holes they can't even respond. I had to ask if he was still there and all he said to me is "Ok. You win".

Dealing with IT directors is like TW, its just a big dick measuring contest.

Long story the school sent an emil to my GM basically saying our program was shit, they can't login, and their "IT Director" did extreme testing and has concluded our servers are the issue.

I got on the call, literally said "My software and severs are 100% stable and functional. It's your networks fault and I can prove it right now if you do 3 tests for me. Otherwise I am willing to hop on a plane in the next few hours and I'll be there tomorrow afternoon to prove you wrong." They run through the tests, everything is perfect, I tell them how to fix their network so it will work. They shut the hell up and apologize for freaking out.

Just for the record, they never made 1 call into anyone for help or to ask questions. They had their "Director of IT" come out and test. Which he was a teacher who got promoted to IT 2 years ago. He just freaked the fuck out for no reason. He's an idiot.

Exactly. Very common at schools. I deal with someone like this about every 2-3 months. It's the most fun part of my job and its the one thing everyone hates to do. So I get to do all of them.

So as I prepare for school next week Im readying my computer. I had to do a clean install and this time w windows 10. I need MS office for school but I do not want 365. In my previous classes my instructors recommended that we use 2007 as the excel was more user friendly. The cost difference between the two is minimal and so I'mm wondering if I should remain w 2007 or attempt 2013.

    much appreciated

I feel your pain on 2007 vs 2011/2013. I got stuck with 2011 and just hate it. Once you get used to the changes it gets better but I still just hate it.

You might want to check to see if there is any compatibility issues with 2007 on W10. I doubt it however some software that is compatible hasn't been playing nice with W10.

According to MS, 2007 is the oldest version supported on W10. So i think I'll stick with 07 until Im forced to use a lesser appliction

I was just doing some research into kodi the other day. Let me know how it works for you. From my understanding it unlocks everything?

the trickiest part was locating the share from the server. I had to enter the local ip as it wasn't discovered by kodi. It's at first easier to use over the aTv2 or pi.

I made it real easy for myself and just got a Mac Mini server hooked up directly to the TV via HDMI. Works amazing running Plex but the price for it is way too much for what it is worth.

I also have a mini on my "theater" room. I have all the others in various units. I wish the mac was a little easier to navigate between all the various sources I have for online and offline content

I used plex for that and I downloaded Unified Remote for Android. It has plex controls built in which makes it super easy to find your content.

I'll have to check out that remote app, I hate using keyboard to navigate plex. I use a mac mini via HDMI and Plex to my projector. Ironically to I run Plex app on my Roku plugged into my Receiver as I get to use the Roku remote.
