Im looking for a wifi signal strength meter. I have an iphone but my brother has a pixel. So an app for either platform will work.

Well it's time for me to wash my hands with Roku. I've been a big supporter of Roku since they released. I've had the 2 and 3 and both devices were just flawless.

But this Roku Premier+, what a pile of shit. I've never had more issues with any plug n' play device in my life and Roku support is worthless.

A buddy bought it for me as a gift and when it showed up I hooked up right into my new 4k, signed into everything, and started streaming rich 4k HDR video. Noooooope.. HDCP errors.

    • Replaced the cable with a new 4k one (which doesn't matter but still)
    • Tried 4 HDMI cables. 2 are listed as HDCP2.2 and 4k certified (again it shouldn't matter)
    • Tried another HDMI input on the TV, nope.
    • Took it next door and hooked it up to their 4k TV, same errors.
    • The fix is to unplug the cable and plug it back in, then it works. But I was getting this error on non 4k content as well. Sometimes it just shows up in the middle of a show.
    • Called Roku, 2 hours on the phone and 2 managers later they said they knew about this error and fixed it. Obviously not. They were no help and said to replace the unit.
    • Sent it back to Amazon, got a replacement.

    Same, fucking, issues.

    • Called Roku again and they blamed the TV. Sure. 3 Samsung 4k TV's all have the same issue even though they are different builds. Sure....
    • Took the Roku to Costco and hooked it up to 10 different TV's. Visio, Samsung, LG.
    • ALL 10 had the same exact issue! The fix is to unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in. I tried 3 different manufactures.
    • Called Roku back and told them (even had video's) and they still say the TV is the issue. 10 TV's, 5 HDMI cables, yeah, the TV is the issue.

Well that's it for me and Roku. Shipped this POS back and just ordered a Nvida Shield and hoping that won't give me issues. Really bummed out, I loved my Roku's but for them to tell me that 10 different TV's are the issue and not them, with 2 of their exact same devices, just pisses me off. They should of taken control of the issue and got it escalated to their dev's to figure out why it's happening. On top of that there is a few forums on their site that are 180+ pages of people that have the same issues.

I've always wondered what leaving my desktop on 24/7 costs me. My computer idles at about 95~100 watts. 100w for 744 hours @ $0.105/kWh = $7.89 a month.

I used to have a kill-a-watt and you could plug in a device and it would tell you how much money it's costing you.

I remember the Xbox 360 running pulled more power then my receiver and TV combined.

That's what I used to test it.

I used to have my desktop, 2 monitors, modem, and router, on my UPS with about 30% load. My 60gb PS3 was also plugged into it, and would bring the load up to 65% when I turned it on. Maybe I'll measure it will the kill-a-watt later...

Well Nvidia shield works perfectly on my TV. Roku was the issue.

But no NHL app for the Nvidia..... Grrrrrr.... Always something..

I was just reading about this. Not sure that I'm super impressed with it, but it will be a lot better than the Xbox One S.

    I spent some money recently.

-Lenovo P50, 1tb ssd, 2tb spinny, i7 6700hq, 32gb ram, nvidia m1000m quadro 4gb, and standard 1080 display in 15" form factor. Its a solid machine, little heavy.

-Lenovo T440, 512gb ssd, 4th gen i5, 8gb ram, 14" and perfect to throw around. the laptop only cost 200 bucks on ebay, the ssd cost nearly as much haha

-Home NAS/PLEX, 4th gen i5, 16gb ram, small form factor case, 140mm radiator, 1x 250gb ssd, 6x 3gb 2.5" spinny drives in raid 10 for 9tb of storage. Got a great deal on the 3's, otherwise I would of gone 4, as such I am having some regrets now but :notsure:

    -Archer c9 router, Love it.

Finally decided to upgrade from my M8 to a Pixel XL. VZW is taking forever to ship it out though.

The plex system sounds great! I use a Mac Mini Server, 8gb ram, i7@3.45ghz and it's flawless. Love my plex server.

My Pixel Xl took 3 months to get to me. Worth it, I love it. Almost no issues other than my BT will turn off at random, always at night when I'm sleeping.
