Upgraded my phone to the OnePlus 6T (8/256). Really liking OxygenOS. Didn't plan on upgrading, but my Pixel XL crapped out.

Finally ran some cat 5e cable, installed a 16 port switch and installed two ASUS N16 routers as access points. Was able to get 6 devices off of wi-fi and hopefully load balance the other wireless devices.

    Garage AP

    Playroom AP

    Home MDF

3 runs, 7 cables totaling 240 ft. All patch cables were hand made.

Only thing left is to add some vents to the closet doors.

Recently upgraded my late 2012 macbook pro retina 13" with a Samsung 860 EVO 500GB mSATA internal SSD using a Qnine converter card. Went together flawlessly and formatted with relative ease. I keep my hard drive very clean but recently started running parallels so I can use Revit 2019. Revit files are enormous and I needed more storage. I wouldnt say it sped up but going from 128 GB with only about 10% free to 500GB is quite nice. It fit into the drive tray with no modification and does not cause a bubble in the case like some people were reporting. As time goes by Apple is making it less possible to mod computers. Thankfully I was able to do this so I didnt have to switch to a shitty work supplied PC. I only have a single core 2.5ghz Intel i5 and 8GB of ram but it seamlessly runs OSx, Adobe creative suite, Parallels, Windows 10 and Revit all while streaming music to my home stereo over airplay, with no delay in functionality whatsoever. Its actually quite impressive. Rumor is Revit will be entirely cloud based by 2020 which may or may not be a good thing.

I also replaced the battery at the same time since I was all but tethered to my power cord. 6 1/2 years isn't bad out of the original battery. I bought a cheap replacement from Amazon and did it myself. This was a mistake, the new battery is a piece of shit. It already dies on me between 30 and 50% battery life. Cost me $65 and I should have just paid the $200 to have it done at Apple. Dont buy an Ansanor brand battery.

Kinda scary gutting such a delicate piece of electronic machinery!

Here is my rigged up bottle of isopropyl using a section of mountain bike hydraulic brake line. Made quick work of the adhesive holding the battery.

That's pretty fun. I love ripping apart Macbooks. Outside of replacing the keyboard they are really well designed and pretty easy to disassemble.

Picked up a 12.5" ThinkPad x240 with dock last night off of CL. I plan on using it as a small encrypted file server. It has a Intel 4300U with AES-NI instructions since my other tiny Lenovo with the N3520 doesn't.

Took apart my girlfriends Yaris's door. Had a speaker that works part of the time. Definitely not a stock sound system!

Speaker we pulled out of the door. Didn't realize how bad of a pic this is.

Inside the door panel. Lots of foam board and silicon. Probably just going to leave it all alone.

Tweeter in the A pillar. It also rattles and cuts out. Going to try to fix that.

Tweeter cutting in/out might be due to the bass resistor that is held in by electrical tape. I'd pull all of those crimps off and solider everything back together to ensure the connections are done right.

Anybody here into 3d printing? I've got an Ender 3 pro on the way, been modeling whistles and coffee scoops and all sorts of random stuff in Fusion 360 so I can get the hang of it before the printer is up and running! I'm beyond excited to start making stuff.

I have been talking about it for the last year. Almost bought into a kickstarter for a print, laser etcher, and small cnc all-in-one last week. Maybe next year.

You're more than welcome to send me stuff to print. All I'd ask is you cover the cost of the filament. Probably going to be a little while before I have it all down well enough to start printing stuff for other people though.

My buddy has that and he printed tail lights for his Comet. That 3d printer is awesome for and doesn't break the bank at all. You'll love that thing!

Fusion is great. That's what I use too. Especially because it has 3D management built in.

As far as those all in ones.. I'd give it more time before pulling the trigger. They are starting to catch on, but currently, the build size and specs for milling just aren't there yet. You'd be better off with a larger build platform 3d printer and a secondary mini mill/engraver. I've been holding off on pulling the trigger as well, mostly due to build size. ~5x5 which is roughly what most of the all in ones have, is not nearly enough.

I'm looking at a couple 11x11 build platform printers for at home use, RC parts/scale accessories, and to start making truck parts and switch mounts again :spy:. Anything else.. I'll leave for the HAAS Mills at work.

If you need any help with fusion or 3d printing.. hit me up. That's all I did for like 4 years. Lol. Switched gears to more machining..

This one has a build space is 8.7x8.7x9.8 not huge but definitely not too small. A mill would be sweet but im happy starting/learning with this. We do plan on printing parts to build both a bigger and smaller printer so we would have multiple running at once.

I'm teaching myself with UoY (university of YouTube) its going fairly well i think. Ive got a long way to go before ive mastered fusion 360 and cura though.

    Nice! Thats pretty cool.
