    Yes in a sense.

AOSP is a group of people who took the native google code and port other features from other ROMS (operating systems) into their code. Then they allow user to go in and make any changes to anything they want to the code.

For example my Note 2 was running Android 4.4 before it was released by Sprint thanks to AOSP. It had features from other phones like the Xperia camera, a custom launcher, and speed/memory tweaks to make it faster and smoother.

AOSP ROMS allow you to change every aspect of the ROM if you know what you are doing. Unlike Apple's iOS it allows full freedom to change the phone. You want to run a custom font, you can. Want to change the DPI settings, Carrier settings, adjust the speeds of the CPU/GPU, overclock/underclock, voltage control, etc, etc, etc. (None of this can be done on an iPhone, even after a Jail break)

It's a blessing and a curse. For people who understand what they are doing they can make the phone 100% custom for them on every level. The curse is that people will just go mucking around in there not knowing what they are doing, trash the phone, then bitch saying its Android's fault.

Yup. I've seen people ruin perfectly good phones messing around with settings they don't understand.

Last year when the Note 3 was released I switched to Verizon in hope of having better service/coverage and a bad ass phone. Fast forward 10 months and I am on my 4th Note 3 and on my 5th Note 3 on my other line, a total of 9 since October. The issues I've had have been with dropped calls, having 4 bars and then saying I'm out of network when I try to make a call, screen blacking out while on a phone call and not being to hang up, losing internet connection even at home when connected to wifi or even while having 4g available, having new voicemails without having a missed call, one phone having service in the house while the other does not, and these are just the problems I recall.
Today I called Verizon because I was having problems not receiving calls, dropping calls, and losing internet connection again.... I was told that they are aware of some Note 3s having problems and they are now replacing them with the Galaxy S5. Hopefully I have better luck with S5 than I did with all of the Note 3s I've had.

Very interesting that you had so many issues. I heard of people having dropped call issues with the note 3 but nothing like that. Having 9 note 3's shows that something is up with that phone on their network. I know a guy on Sprint that has one, no real issues. I think someone on here has one as well and maybe they'll chime in.

S5 is a nice phone. Note 4 is coming soon too. :)

I have a Note 3 on Verizon. The only issue I have is crappy coverage. Dropped and no service at home when my wife who has an iPhone 5c has excellent service. Still on my 1st Note 3 too. I have read that the Note 3 has a bad/weak radios.

I love the phone, but for a $700, Samsung could have done a way better job on the radios for the phone.

Why does the US not get an octa-core instead of a quad core when other parts of the world get that version. It would be cool to see it come to the US for a change.

Specs on the Note 4 are pretty good.

I've always wondered why we get weaker phones here. My guess is for sales reasons.

It seems that the US versions have been getting more ram and less cpu cores.

Which is fine with me. I still rarely max out my CPU on my Note 2, but my ram is pegged a lot. You can never have too much ram!

Should be the same as the note 3 as they both run 4.4 kitkat. Just a few minor tweaks.

Keep me posted on how it goes because I was planning on going to Verizon this xmas. But finding out they cap Netflix speeds on their 4g, and the issues you have had makes me a bit hesitant.

I agree. I'm on my 6th or 7th Note 2 and none of them have been as good as the first one I got. This last one doesn't get 4g no matter where I am. But I just don't care anymore as Sprints 4g is crap anyways.

It seems. To be a different screen because this one scratches and shit and my old one never scratched the glass

I wonder if they replace it with cheaper glass when the screen is cracked. I've never noticed, I've yet to scratch my screen or break a screen on a phone yet.

Now making them melt on the inside, that I am good at!

Yea I can root your phone for you. If you want you can look up CF Autoroot here and it has instructions on what to do.
