Here is an example of how bad Apple Products really are when it comes to performance vs Android and Microsoft. All devices are top of the line hardware and current generation.

The software I work on is for reading intervention and has about 500 books you can download from the cloud and read. I choose a 800 page book that rings in at 83mb in size, its an ePub file that is in .zip format.

What happens: The device calls to my cloud server and pulls the .zip to the cache of the device. Then its the devices turn to unzip and display the ePub file to the viewer.

The test is to see how fast it can pull down a .zip and uncompress it so you can begin to read the book.

    iPad 4, iOS 8.0.2, 64gig.

    Open book from cloud 3 attempts: 1. 70 seconds. 2. 56 seconds. 3. 72 seconds

Android Galaxy Tab 2014 Edition, 32gig model, 4.4.4 kit kat

    Open book from cloud 3 attempts: 1. 32 seconds. 2. 15 seconds. 3. 20 seconds

    Microsoft Surface Pro 3, Windows 8.1, 128gig

    Open book from cloud 3 attempts: 1. 44 seconds. 2. 21 seconds. 3. 24 seconds

Our native code is 70% across all devices so its not a code issue and we use the same zip compression tool and ePub reader for all devices. This just goes to show you how much slower Crapple really is when it comes to real world applications.

A good resource for building: http://pcpartpicker.com/ it has nice features like price tracking across different sources and I think they have bundle deals in there as well.

Man I am way to far in to read all this, but what does everyone recommend for GPU? Don't need anything crazy, but I'm tired of my integrated graphics.

What are you wanting to do? Games? If so, what kind of games? Also, what is your computer and how old is it?

I want to start playing more graphical games. Right now I only play minecraft. Mainly looking at GTAV coming up, but not limiting it to that. I actually built my computer early this year.

    I believe this is everything:
    i5 4670
    Gigabyte Ga-H87-D3h
    8 gigs ram
    Rosewell 650 power supply
    128 gig ssd
    500 gig hd

    Running 64 bit windows 8.1

Price range about 150-200. Looking to get it around sales time so I know it'll vary.

CS:go looks decent. From what I could collect quick, payday 2 looks kinda like gta?

That's what I was thinking. I'm not sure either though

People in CSGO take the competitive matches way to seriously but other than that its cool. I still think Counterstrike source is better but.. yeah

Payday is awesome its a 4 person co op heist game. Tons of different heists/missions of different lengths and difficulties. Lots of paid and free dlc and they fix crashes and bugs/ release updates often. Still tons of dlc planned and im the works its a sweet game.

I'll have to look into them more. CS reminds me of COD and I got away from that cuz how serious some people took it. It was retarded and made the game no fun for me.

Payday sounds more like my kind of game. More relaxed and exciting.

CS in general started a while new Era for multilayer and first person. It dominated hard back in late 90s with half life

Half life is the best FPS if you ask me. Those games were way ahead of their time.
