To be transparent, I didn't take this bear in AZ. I took it in NW, just across the state line from Unit 27. My buddies have an elk tag in AZ and in NM (across state line) and they been seeing bears on the NM side when scouting for elk.

Any AZ residents willing to help a fellow TW member out?

I'm a SoCal resident, and hunting in CA is horrible, especially this year with all the fires. Anyone willing to guide me on a hunt, or let me hunt their property? I'm more that happy to pay and/or cover any costs.

Super jealous man. Congrats again. I once again got skunked today. Look up Josh White with Desert Edge Taxidermy. He's a friend of mine who has done several mounts for me.

What kind of hunting you thinking about? In AZ as far as big game is concerned, we don't have landowner tags, it's all draw for the good units. There are leftover tags and some over the counter, but it really depends on what you're wanting to hunt.

Thank you sir, and thank you for the referral, I just spoke with Mark over at Miller's Processing too. This run isn't going to be a cheap thing to do... it's going to cut into my "boot fund".

I just got a call from a buddy of mine that was helping his cousins chase bears today, they were on 5 different bears. I'll see if I can get any intel on locations.

Goodrich grief 5 bears?? I can't even get on one. Haha.

Josh hasn't mounted anything for me in a few years but he's always been very reasonably priced. He's a damn good hunter, has done lots of bear rugs and has always been a big supporter of our fundraisers.

I appreciate you talking to your buddy. I'll be back out in the morning again.

What area are you glassing in? Is there fruit in the cactus or juniper berries or acorns if there are oaks?

The area I've been in the last 2 days is mostly oak brush with acorns, manzanita and plenty of juniper berries. Also water in the bottoms of the canyons. It's really the perfect place. There's not a whole lot of prickly pear but I wouldn't think they would leave all the other food sources just to chase the prickly pear fruit. I think tomorrow I'm going to drop lower into an area that is loaded with pears and see what I can dig up.

I just spoke to my buddy. Looks like they got an arrow into one bear but hit it too far back. They spent all day yesterday and today trying to get back on that bear. These poor kids are out near the AZ/NM border, in the Chiricahuas.

Chiricahuas with a bow is not for the weak! Hopefully they get it done. Skunked again for me today. If work gets cancelled tonight due to weather I'll be back at it in the morning.

Just went out to unit 19A over the weekend. Man do I have my work cut out for me. It's very dense up there so looks like I need to find some water holes and start there.

Congrats on the bear by the way! That would be a cool hunt for sure!

There's a TON of water in most of 19A right now. It's been raining like crazy off and on since the monsoons started.

All of that stuff is draw tags.. there are some leftover tags and some OTC tags for archery but those units are usually in wilderness areas. I know several great professional guides I can line you out with if you can get a tag.

Hell, it it works out we might even be able to get a TW hunt club together...

Best of luck brother! My buddies are still on the trail of that bear.. They got within 30 yards of it a few more times but it was too think to fling arrows at it. These dudes are animals when it comes to chasing bears, I know i couldn't hang with them, that's why I use a 300WM!
