I hunted unit 10 last oct for deer and was successful but did not see any elk. They do get big ones out of there every year as far as bulls. Lots of my family have hunted cow there with no luck, big unit lots of private land and difficult access now.

Yes, and Kaibab closed a lot of roads to get access to land that was open before. Two years ago all the roads that we used to get to our campsites were closed. Had a hell of a time finding a place to camp. Where abouts in the unit did you fill your deer tag? Two years ago I had permits for cow elk and mule deer. I had cameras out and caught photos of a couple of big mule deer but couldn't get into them during the season. What got me were the wild mules. The Forrest Service caught 150 but they were still thick.....

I'd be interested in a hunt too. I'm available most weekends. Let me know if you guys get something planned. None of my friends hunt so I usually go solo. Would be nice to meet up with some other hunters.

Got a 4 point about a mile off of the gasline road north of the golf course. biggest bodied deer for me so far. With my wife and didn't realize we hiking downhill the whole time until we had to drag it out of there, she's a trooper and helped with loading it in the 4runner as well.

Thanks, I know the area. I had a camera out at Upper Sandstone tank two years ago a got a photo of a nice 4 pointer. They're out there. Mule deer in th1s area seem to be the same biological strain as the northern Arizona mule deer. Talking about mule deer, about five years ago my buddy and I were dog hunting north of Prescott on the Yavapai Ranch when we came upon an old guy bow hunting for mule deer in January. Personally, this is the biggest mule deer I've ever seen. One of my photos was in MullieCrazy mag. Score-212 Non-Typical. Arizona has some big mule deer!!!!

Half of unit 10 is on Big Bo Ranch, and I think there were issues with hunters disrupting ranch operations. It was closed for a short while.

Game and Fish got them to open it up, but you have to respect the ranch rules and buy a permit.
