There's a bull elk laying there. My buddy shot him. The funny thing is that the bull was being escorted by two goats. We laughed our ases off. Every time he went to shoot, one of the goats would walk in front or behind the bull, causing him to not shoot. Those goats stayed there waiting for the bull to get up.

I have seen goats get attached to horses, but the bull was a new one for me.

Me neither. So after my buddy shot, I told him I had to take a pic because no one would believe us. Too funny. I was actually giggling while those damned things walked around the bull.

Been chasing this guy since December. He survived the orange army, but man is he hard to get in close. He is much better at being prey than I am at being a predator. Doesn't help that he lives in a bunch of Cat Claw Acacia that makes it virtually impossible to sneak through. I've got one more weekend to make it happen. Just need him to make a mistake.

Our last stalk was on a spike this weekend and we ended up bumping a couple doe into him and busted our stalk.

I did end up finding my first shed though.

The next day my buddy broke the idler arm on his pickup and we spent the day fixing it trailside.

Lots of action this season. It was my buddies first year out. Looking forward to August. OTC Turkey in 6A is next on the list.

I wish I had something cool to post, but I blew it at 60 yards broadside. Just flinched ever so slightly and skinned the hair behind the shoulder. Ate my Javi tag, never even seen a group while I was out. Hopefully I can bag a unit 1 turkey in April.

It's all good man. I had a javelina tag in hand during my whitetail hunt and had an opportunity on one at 20yds and shot right over his back. Called him back in and missed again at 25yds. After destroying 2 arrows and broadheads I decided I needed to verify my gear and found out it was shooting high and left. My site must have gotten bumped during the deer hunt. Now I make sure to shoot it every morning before the hunt to make sure nothing got bumped.

One tip I have for you is to get a cottontail call (or a javelina call). You could probably have gotten a closer opportunity if you used a call at 60yds. Usually the biggest boar and sow come running in to inspect after using a cottontail call.

Good luck with the gobblers in April!

Maybe I should've elaborated better. It was a 60 yard broadside shot on a mule deer lol. I never even saw a Javi in the zones I drew my tag. I typically just "oof" at em to call them back in.

Oh ok. When you said you ate your "javi" tag I thought you meant you were hunting Javelina. Bummer to miss on a muley but its always fun to have an opportunity.

I got hit for tags too! My son, my buddy, and I are hunting late bull in 5b. Excited! Last time was 2019, and there was 2 feet of snow on the ground when all three of us tagged out that year!

    Look at this smile!!!
