(3-25-14) Well tomorrow is the big day! Leaving in the morning for Alaska! Ive spent the past couple weeks doing mods and improving my truck for the trip. Im feeling pretty good about it, but definitely a lot of anxiety to go along with. Here are some pics of the mods.
Building the deck I used 1/2 plywood. 2x6 for support, and carpeted it.

5 months worth of clothes(GF and mine!)

On with the deck and good pic of carpet.

On with the Bestop. I did something kinda unique. I took some panel board and cut it the shape of the windows and put it between the brackets and canvas.

Then the rear rack that will hold water, gas, and camping gear/supplies

Had some extra wood so built a bench for the back

(2-17-14) Well the time has come to tell the 'World' about big changes coming to my life and take you along for the trip.
My GF has been going to school in Vegas for the past 1 1/2 years and it is coming to an end with internships. For her last internship we decided she should try and to get one in AK(good excuse right?). Well things went through and she got one at Providence Hospital in Anchorage! It will go 3 months, from the beginning of April to the end of June. The real adventure will be in August when we take a month to see everything on the way back to AZ.

The plan is to drive up the last week of March. From Phoenix it will be about 4000miles and a week of driving to get up there. We will go up to Utah, connect with the 15, and take it to the border. From there we’ll go through Calgary and Edmonton before venturing the great Alcan. Im going to buy the new addition of Milepost that comes out in March for that part.

Our chariot up there will be my stock ‘13 V6 4x4 access cab that has about 18K. I am going to start putting some work into it so it will be as comfortable as possible for the trip up. Some of the mods I have planned:
    -Get a Bestop soft top
-Build a carpeted platform in the truck bed. Underneath will be storage. On top will be our air mattress and lots of blankets.

The 2uncertains are where we’ll live, and what Ill do for work. Not too worried about that yet since ive still got time to look. If anyone has insight, tips, or other knowledge beneficial to this trip please share!!!

This is meant to be a once in a lifetime trip through some of the most beautiful canvas on Earth. Were young, no kids, and no permanent living situations to deal with. So why not?? Lucky for you all we both enjoy taking pictures so there will be many to come!

    More to come

    Kyle
