Parker canyon lake for developed camp site. About a 40 min drive up to montezuma pass via dirt road. Part of which is azbr. Dispersed camping along the azbr once you descend from montezuma pass multiple sites along the road. Might want to get off the road a bit to avoid border patrol traffic noise. I'm sure there's camping on the east side as well carr canyon etc. Might just be a longer drive than parker canyon or dispersed on west side

This looks like it has potential 31°22'00.1"N 110°19'19.6"W about 10 min below Montezuma Pass

Im hoping my lift kit comes in before our trip, they haven't provided the day it arrives yet but my plan is to complete it Thursday night if possible and then have it ready to go for Friday morning, after a quick alignment in town. Pulled the trigger on an OME lift kit from 4 wheel parts. I may need help since I'm not familiar with the kit just with areas where I need to re-torque.

    kit for reference https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/arb-old-man-emu-2-inch-lift-kit-ometac16mksb/_/R-BHWQ-OMETAC16MKSB

Here's a good spot thats off the road a little more...if need be! I am finding lots of off shoots and little dirt roads off of Montezuma Canyon Road. Who ever gets there during the day should be able to find a good open spot. I should be arriving around 8:45pm Thursday night.

FYI a large portion of that side of the mountain is actually under National Park service as part of the Coronado national monument. To the best of my knowledge there is no camping on the NPS land at Coronado National Monument. Montezuma pass marked with X Purple=NPS land Green=NFS land ok to camp Clear=private ownership. This is correct NPS restricts highly due to the danger with cartels using the area as a smuggling route.

Does anyone have the actual AZBDR map(Butler Map)? GAIA GPS shows quite a few possible routes through the area. The online map doesn’t show the route in great detail.

I do. Only problem is that it's not super detailed or zoomed in enough for some of the areas, making it hard to tell if it's a right or left at a fork on the trail or something. We looked at it some during our last trip. It's good for a general guide tho.

Yeah that wasn’t much help at all. I’m going to download the gps coordinates from the site and see if I can get a usable map put together

Ok that didn’t take long at all. I loaded the coordinates into my GAIA App and it’s all there. Now let’s see how it works in real life.

    Green line is Section 1
    Blue line is section 2

Section 2 is different now than what is shown on the Butler map and from what you and I did. I think we should try to retrace our route from New Years since that more closely followed the route the Butler map shows and we know it's doable for most vehicles. Just have to watch out for that washout that almost ate your truck... :boink:

I noticed that too. Very different from what you and I did on New Years weekend. That might explain why our path became so rough and put us out on I10 where it did.
