LMFAO true, I'm just a pee runner and live on an island where there isn't much "off-roading" that I can do unless I was at least 4WD or a SAS

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I couldn't tell you this kit is designed for stock height bump travel you would have to figure it out on your own for that one.

Just wondering has anybody had any trail damage to the shocks because of rocks or anything? That's my only fear with them in front of the axle.

You would have to pick one hell of a line to get a rock in between your leaf pack and tire. In front or behind it doesn't matter if you pick the wrong line to can cause damage to your truck that's just how it go's. The best thing to do is know your vehicle and avoid lines that can cause damage the best you can. Also you need to remember the lower mounts will not longer be below the axle.

I meant hitting the bottom mount/ bottom of shock on rocks. Some of the places I wheel have lots of not sharp pointy basketball sized rocks. Just a thought that crossed my mind.

Exactly what Jerry said, as long as you pick you lines fine you'll be fine. The lower mounts he provides are pretty beefy as it is, if you wanted to go crazy you could weld a gusset in between them for rigidity, but then you might not be able to get the shock in or out if they warp at all. I went all over all kinds of rocks and stuff and never had an issue with them. If you hit something hard enough to damage the shock where its mounted you probably just bent your axle as well lol

Hi gents, can anyone with 1st gen experience tell me if this kit will work on the previous model?

(It's actually an Australian LN167 Hilux :crapstorm:)

Diff is 0.75" narrower each side than the 2nd gen from what I can find, wondering why it wouldn't work....

    I've got -44 15x10s on 35" tyres, if that makes a difference

It's my first post, with a different truck, from a different place, don't let me get away without a burning!

    EDIT: vehicle in question

my wife just ordered me a set for an early birthday present! can't wait to get them and burn'em on..... I'll be getting rid of my bed cage and 16" shocks for this lol DMZ SUA will still be there though. I really want my bed space back and don't have the time, space, or tools to build another bed cage while I'm living out here in Wisconsin :( single car garage and apartment living sucks

I haven't lurked TW for almost 2 years so I don't have a clue whose fabbing and selling what lol im toying around with the idea of running 14" shocks with this I'd just have to move the lower shock mounts further down on the axle tube. I'll find out what I'm going do when I actually mock-up some 12" shocks and cycle the leaf pack to see what travel numbers I'll be pulling.

You can fit 14" shocks under the wheel wells if they are canted a hair and still pull a good 14-15" of travel with the DMZ pack IIRC. Maybe 13". I know there was someone here who did it with shock hoops under there. With the BAMF kit and 12" shocks you might pull 12" because of the 9 degree angle the BAMF kit is at. You can't cant it very far otherwise shocks will rub the sides

Damn I'm going to have to sift through posts and see whose running SUA with one of these kits maybe I'll be the first one.

I know there is a guy with white 2nd gen that has a DMZ kit and is running 12" triples with a hoop inside the fender well. I just can't remember his username

So has anyone been able to make this work without spacers? Obviously with 2.0 smooth bodies.

More offset on the wheels and skinny tires would be the only way if you fully stuff your tire.

Hmmm. I'd be okay with limiting up travel a little, but not very much.. I'm on 305s on 8.5" wheels with 4.3" backspacing. I guess I probably just need to plan on running spacers then (I have a set of 1" spacers laying around somewhere)?

You could put the buckets more forward to help with clearance not sure how much more but it's an idea. Just have the shocks tuned for it.

Limiting travel? Why would you do that?

Static tests on a forklift had me thinking I would be ok but after 2 trips into the rocks and getting it really flexed I polished the shock a little. Im on 285x75r17s, 4.5BS, 7.5" wheel.

Its not enough to worry me at this point
