About to order these. Does anyone have pictures or guidance on how much you cut on a 3rd gen to fit 35's? I will measure once we get to that stage but just trying to have a "plan" before I talk to a fabricator about this.

Right thats what I meant, I was saying that 285 is not 35"s, in response to the reply that said "check the first post".

Point is I was looking for pictures of a CMC done on a 3rd gen to fit 35"s, which means cutting all the way up to the ear pretty much. I think as @IronPeak4x4 pointed out, post # 15 is a good place to start.

    :)

    Hey little sister, ;)
After all of the messaging, I just want to find out...what did you end up running?
    285's with what backspacing?
and you did the cmc correct?
Are you thinking of going bigger tires?
I'm not sure I want/need to make the jump into 285's right now so I'm just chatting.
    thx man

lol, Let me know how that little sister thing goes for you once your dragging that long ass all over the trails. Little sister my ass. Hahaha.

So, I have Icon Stage 4, tubular UCA's, Spidertrax 1.25, BFGKO2's 285/70/17, Stock wheels. I have not cmc'd yet. I will though, soon. I just got the BAMF cmc plates on the mail this morning, so now its just a matter of days before I chop this shit up!

Worth mentioning, I have the 1" body lift from toytec on the way, along with longer, steel braided brake lines for front and rear and icon hydraulic bump stops for the rear, new bump stops for the front. Once that happens I will be re-gearing to shove 35"s in there. Prolly January or so?

What's the difference between this cmc plate and the section of the frame that's getting cut out? Aren't you just cutting out a section and replacing it? Also, will this mod affect my warranty?

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Yes you are removing a section and capping it after its cut off.
As anything you do to modify your truck warranty claims can be denied but there are federal laws stating that to deny the warranty claim they need to prove the modification caused the failure.

@TheosTaco posted these earlier in the thread.

I finally got around to getting this done.

    1) Clean up the Cab Mount
    [IMG]

    2) Outline the area to be cut and start cutting
    [IMG]

    3) Carefully cut the mount off
    [IMG]

    4) Once the piece is off... Grind it down to even the cut & get desired angle
    [IMG]

    5) Mount up BAMF CMC Plate in place
    [IMG]

    6) a.Tack Weld the CMC Plate in place. b.We stuffed a Very damp & cold rag in the underside hole where the Cab Mount is located to minimize the risk of the the mount melting or catching fire. c. Start welding the CMC Plate onto the frame in increments.

    7) a.Grind & Smooth out the welds for smooth finish. b.Sand area to further smooth out
    [IMG]

    8) Tape off, Prime & Paint
    [IMG]

Thanks for the CMC Plates Jerry!

Hey Jerry, I know you said you have done the 2nd gen Tacoma for 35s. Is there any way we would be able to buy the end cap plate?

You don't need another plate you just cut off more and bend the plate over .
