B.A.M.F Rear Diff skid plate

ill let you know in like 2 weeks. my rear diff is attracted to rocks...

 

Yeah mine too that's the reason this skid was designed

so its mounted on the sides of the axel with u-bolts, is that the only places its mounted? what about the front of the diff?

 

Any pics of it all bolted on? I saw the pics in the first post all mounted up, but not bolted on. Just curious.

The mounting points are not welded on yet I ran out of light last night. it will be mounted tomorrow or the next day and I need to run and pick up some U-bolts for the axle mounts.

Yeah well worth it's weight in gold. it's a awesome tool and with the bender dies it's even better I've got a few more 100's into it now but I'm glad I bought the stuff I did.

 

You've got multiple dies? I was thinking of getting some made so I could bend tabs on brackets. Might be interested in some if you've got someone thats making you some.

 

So how do you get the complex, round shapes out of that press?

 

I've just been making some that will fit in my bender angle for little tabs and brackets with 1/4" angle and I made some ball joint presses. the only thing I bought was the DIY plate bender kit from Swagoffroad.com Troy makes some great stuff.

 

The skid shell is three different sheets of 1/4" plate bent into shape and welded into one. And to get the shape I did it the old school way and mocked it up with cardboard taped together one piece at a time and transferred the template to the steel "cardboard is more forgiving then steel "
