A nice feature with the backing plates is that you don't have to remove bearings. You cut the old backing plates off. These slip over the filler piece covers the slot.

I called SOS brakes and also compared the bearing retainer part numbers from 96-2004 Tacoma and 2000-2006 Tundra. They both use the same part number. Meaning that the bolt pattern for the backing plate is identical.

Ok gotcha, seems weird they would not advertise that they fit 1st gen tacomas then on their website. They would sell a lot of them if so.

I asked them that over the phone. His answer was that they never get anyone looking for them. So the quit advertising them. Doesn't make sense to me. :notsure::crazy:

I went SOS backing plates & parking brake stuff but getting my own remaining parts. No offense but just not a fan of red calipers or drilled rotors, not on a truck at least.

Bilstein 5100's front and back. OME 880 front coils. General HD rear springs. Fuel 16x8 Enduro rims. Dick Cepek Extreme Country 285/75/16's Some kind of headers. K&N cold air intake.
I wish I even thought for a second that the wife would let me do this. A $900 brake upgrade in the middle of a 4X4 swap just isn't gonna fly. I will keep an eye on this though.

would you happen to have the part numbers for the calipers you used? im trying to do a rear disc swap on a 5 lug and those are the missing link, i wont go disc if i lose a parking brake with my 5 speed.

Does installation of this setup require modification/removal of the LSPV in the rear? I may be interested.
