I do have the factory roof rack that the dealer reinstalled while searching for another different water leak.

Any ideas before I do the hose test?

As soon as this is squared away, I'm selling it and buying a Silverado. I just had the carpet replaced and fixed the massive leak that was happening on the passengers side.

I would take out the screws of the roof rack that go into the roof of the truck and put 100 percent silicone on the threads. Tighten down and apply more silicon to that area around the head of the screw.

I installed my own roof rack onto my 4runner and did it this way. 6 years no leaks. I would not trust the dealers work, you have to double check their work sometimes.

Your truck leaks simply because the dealer that installed your roof rack failed to properly seal the holes they created. Your leaking Taco is due to poor aftermarket installation not because of poor OE or defective OE designs.

Switching out to a Silverado is asking for a whole new set of nightmares. Yes I said nightmares, not headaches, or even bad dreams.

I know multiple people with 2014+ Silverados and none of them have any issues, especially with interiors possessed by Poseidon.

So far, the Tacoma has kinda been a nightmare for me. My 1997 Audi A4 with 140,000 miles on it has had fewer issues. It's been to the dealer for about a month total over a year of owning it and I've spent almost $1,000 on various issues I couldn't fix myself.

I like the truck itself and it's been through a lot with me, but I'm just not sure what to do that'll keep it viable for me.

The roofrack is on the window sticker I believe and was only reinstalled by the dealer once. The other leaks were related to a bad firewall design, leaking rear window and a seal.

    I found another leak.

Water is leaking in through the back window as well as the B pillar.

Here's a list of all of the cabin leaks I currently have/have had since buying my truck in 2017:

    1. Firewall leak on the passenger side (Missing screw, fixed)

    2. Drivers side leak down the A pillar (Fixed)

    3. B Pillar leak on the passenger side (Not fixed)

    4. Rear window leak on the right side (Not fixed)

    5. Rear window leak on the left side (Fixed)

    6. Firewall leak on drivers side (Fixed)

    7. AC drain leaking into cabin passenger side (Fixed)

Soon after I bought the truck, I noticed it would smell musty when it rained. But I never really was able to figure out where the smell was coming from. I've never heard of a vehicle having so many different leaks into the cabin.

For the firewall ones I do. There were missing bolts that somebody removed.

So I’m experiencing some issues too. Pulled off the OEM roof rack and sealed up the holes. Our back the standard moldings and still leaking from the rear but not from the third brake light. Haven’t tried the hose test since I thought this would’vs fixed it. Did yours leak on the left and right rear window where the roof moldings meet the rear window?

Just a little damp on the headliner on each side, the middle completely dry. I can reach inside the headliner and feel the wetness too. Noticed behind the outside of the molding that there’s foam there.

Okay, so you removed the OEM roof rack?

What did you fill the holes with?

Assuming you reinstalled the roof rack, try some pipe dope on the screws.

If you removed it and have no plans on reinstalling it, use silicone to fill anything up. If you haven't already.

I put a little bit of silicone but not too much since I’m planning on a Prinsu. But I did put weatherproof Gorilla tape over it too and it’s really secured in there. I really think where the rear window molding and roof molding meets is where the leak is at. I pulled the rear molding to see the inside and it was just glass and a piece of foam about 2” wide then the rubber seal

Huh, it could possibly be not enough silicone up there. Not really sure where else it could originate from besides that 3rd brake light.

Like I said, It sounds like the dealer failed to properly seal the roof rack on the truck.

It just sounds like you got dealt a bad hand on the truck. Ditch it and get another one if you still want to stick to the Tacoma platform. They are well built trucks, but every once in a while some bad apples are assembled.

100% positive that it’s not coming from the bolt holes. I think it’s either rear window seal or third brake light but seeing if you discovered yours. Check out the foam piece I’m talking about when I move the rear window seal.
