I just use the seat belt to strap in the base for my 8month old's car seat. I never bother with hooks since so many cars don't have them or you have to reach behind the seat, or some other awkward place.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
yeah, rear facing is a PITA, but u can install it in the middle and hook it under the front of the middle...and when forward facing comes in, u pop open the big fold down and connect the hook back there, then close it and install the seat like normal. easy to do and keeps room behind the two front seats

    Holy thread resurrection, Batman.

Since I posted in this thread, I now have a rear facing car seat. This is what happens when it's placed anywhere other than the middle of the rear seat:

I run three seats in mine, two forward facing and a booster seat. The booster is directly behind me and the 2 forward facing seats are in the middle and behind the passenger seat. Its really tight cuz the 2 forward facing seats are big, but it works. Luckily i will be going to 2 boosters and one forward facing probably within the week.

I know this is an old thread, but I just found out I have TWINS on the way. Anyone put TWO rear facing car seats in their Double Cab? I'm over 6'1", and I'd rather not drive with the dash board in my knees. If you do run with two rear facers, what brand are they? I'd like to go with the kind that has the bases that stay in the truck...

Normally our two car seats stay in the wife's RAV4, but I have put them in my DC a few times. Plenty of room.

I had the rear facing one behind my seat. I'm 5'11", mostly from my legs.

You're going to have to sit with the driver seat almost to the front....It also depends on what brand car seat you have. I have a Graco. I just bought a 2011 Sienna for the wife since we have another one on the way in September. If we need to go somewhere...the Sienna is what we take. No more car seat in the Tacoma come Sept. :D

It's going to be very tough. I wouldn't recommend it. I have a Chicco (sp?) Keyfit 30 system and it's in the middle. I tried to put it behind the driver seat and it was just not going to happen.

    Congrats on the twins. :proposetoast:

This is why you should measure to see what car seat will fit the best I have a access cab and I had more room than that with the car seat in the back

There's plenty of room. Even space to recline and not smash the little kiddies feet

Necro posting for sure. studying for my possible next vehicle. looking at getting rid of the fj and getting into a Tacoma, or something else. i need a little extra space and convenience for an upcoming addition to the family, already have a six year old in a booster and soon to be adding a rear facing seat again. hauling a baby carrier in and out if the fjs suicide door won't be easy, especially in crowded parking lots. hopefully with normal doors it will be much better. so far as the space on the interior goes, i could gain a few inches in all directions on a 2nd Gen, but from experience how crowded would it be in the back for the kids? i will definitely be putting the baby seat in the middle, and for sure looking for the lady bulky setup for both. possible? or should i give up and look more into a full size?
