I had a F350 and traded it in on a Tacoma. I really miss the F350 for size and room. you just felt like everyone moved for you. The only thing I like about the Tacoma is the gas money you save and payments. I regret it.

Britax makes really good seats. A little on the pricier side but well worth it IMO.

Eddie Bauer makes a convertible(forward and rear facing) that's meant for compact cars. Still plenty big enough and secure enough, but not obnoxious.

I had the base and carrier when I had my second behind passenger seat, and that leg room was a little cramped, but my wife is short, so she was fine. I have my oldest in a booster behind me.

The new convertible when rear facing gained a little more leg room, and now that he is front facing, there is even more. The boys love being in the truck over my wife's Venza.

We had the B-safe when Sky was little. A base mounted in each vehicle and the B-Agile stroller with mounts. Excellent system.

We now have a Pavillion in each vehicle. I like the adjustable base, it conforms to any seat. Also have the Britax kick mats on the back of the Taco front seats.

Next upgrade is to a BoB Revolution Stroller.

Thats cool that it conforms to any seat! So many vehicles these days have different back seats and I dont like it when I have to use noodles to level them out.

Noodles? Huh, never thought about using those. I had a rolled up towel under my Britax when it was rear facing, to level it out.

That's interesting.. Our britax is adjustable to fit different angled seats. Comes in very handy in the access cab jump seats.

But I am seriously glad my wife has the SUV cause when you put even the forward facing car seat in my pickup the front passenger has their knees crammed against the glove box

Should have bought a double cab :(

Well we call them noodles haha but they are those long round floatable pool toys. They work pretty well actually! Towels would work too. I think a lot of parents don't know there is a marked line on all the child seats telling you where it should be level.

As DeeKay said, using the LATCH hooks from the outside seats to install a seat on the center is playing with fire. The latch hooks are engineered to be a specific distance apart and you run a risk of them failing in a collision if installed improperly. While you may ultimately win a lawsuit based on the archaic "center seat is safest" argument, it doesn't bring back your child, or fix any sort of disabling injury.

Also, I saw a 2x4 mentioned to adjust the seat...please don't do this. Use noodles or a towel as mentioned. If you're involved in a collision, would you rather have a 2x4 or a pool noodle flying around inside?

A properly installed child seat will move slightly, approx 1 inch in all directions.

Seat belts and LATCH are equally safe, but LATCH tends to be easier for a parent to get properly cinched down and secure.

I'm also a certified installer, feel free to PM me with questions.

LOL, I knew what you where talking about. Never thought about using them, but I like that better than a towel I think. Easier.
    a 2x4?!

Well put. Ive also had some parents use 2x4's as well and I told them heck no. Your absolutely right and you wouldnt want a wood projectile flying around in a car if you were in a roll-over. Projectiles is a whole other story cause to many people have loose stuff in their vehicles.

I fit my Chicco KeyFit 30 in the middle back of my brother's DC Tacoma. Put some force down on the seat to compress the seat padding a bit and pull the belt snug then. Make sure you pull the seatbelt out to lock the tensioning mechanism.

I've fit the same seat in the back of our MINI.

Does anyone have any pictures of a rear facing car seat in the back of their dbl cabs? My son has out grown he's baby car seat and we need to get a larger rear facing one but they all look huge and not sure how they fit.

I'm assuming you have him in the back center seat? If so a convertible car seat will fit because during my tech class we used my double cab to practice with and all seats from infant carriers to booster seats all fit.

Oh okay got yah. Well sad thing about having a car seat behind the passenger or driver is like you said, some seats are bigger then others so what I learned while installing a bunch of them is either the driver or passenger wont have a choice but to slide their seat forward. I know it sucks to adjust the drivers seat but sometimes it just had to be done for the seat to be installed properly. I always suggest to parents that the rear center seat is the safest way to go cause if you get side swiped by another vehicle the first thing to go are the doors.....and whats next to the doors....the car seats so think of that as well.

Yeah her seat is usually pushed up so she's used to that.
