I realize at this point I'm the only person posting to this, but maybe someone in the future can learn from this.

I just received my Combi Coccoro seat and test fitted it in the truck. I am happy to say it is definitely a LEGAL and SAFE solution! And if your passenger doesn't have legs to speak of, or doesn't mind sitting almost on the dashboard, you have a 4 passenger truck again.

Here are two pictures. One is rear facing and one is forward facing obviously. I put the forward facing just to try it out. It'll work great. I never moved the front seat from any of these pictures, so it's in the most forward and erect locked position you can have it in. This Combi seat will allow you to click it back at least 2 clicks which is somewhat tolerable...

A note about rear-facing... My Diono Radian has a top tether but the owners manual doesn't really say much about using it. They say it's there if you want it. That seat fits really tightly and passes the 1" side-to-side test without the top tether, so I don't use it. The Combi Coccoro manual says the top tether MUST be used while rear-facing and I see why. The shape of the base is really rounded so it's hard to get it really seated securely without the tether. It comes with a cinch strap so I wrapped it around the rear of the front seat slide and anchored it that way. It's really tight now. I haven't used the seat yet since my baby boy is still napping, but it looks about the same as any other car seat, so I'm excited about it.20200723_153452.jpg 20200723_153729.jpg

Looking at these pictures, I suppose I should clean all of my junk out of the truck before driving around. My poor kid is going to get clobbered by a 4x4 chunk if we go for a ride off-road!

How did I miss your thread? I looked high and low and couldn't find anyone specifically using that seat. I'm glad it fits in a 3rd gen as well as a 2nd gen truck too. Also, I love that your truck also has 3 pedals :) Keeping it real. I had a 2005 TRD sport with a MT. Loved that truck too.

In retrospect I misspelled the carseat name in my thread - "Coccoro" vs. "Cocorro" - that's probably why you couldn't find it. Fixed it now!

Likewise! You have good taste in trucks sir!
