Well I'm back in a taco. Sold my 2014 and finally got a 2021 TRD Sport. Got a few questions it's been a few years sorry.
First I'm upgrading the headlight bulbs. I see they are h11 does this newer headlight have an extra bulb for high beams? What Led are you guys using?
Also what about the fog light? I see it's h16 , can I get away with using h11 which is the same ?
Also I did a MOD on my 2014 that I saw here . It was a trick I did in the fuse box to make the fog lights turn on seperatly from the headlights. Does anyone remember what I'm talking about ? Wondering if that needs to be done on the 3rd gens.
Last question regarding the Indash and the android auto. In my last hyundai I would press the speak button on the steering wheel and it would respond with google. In this tacoma I have android auto running... And it responds with the default toyota one?!? It's annoying I have to press the microphone on the Google maps screen to speak to google everytime while driving? Can this be changed?

Thanks for any tips and pointers. I look forward to hooking this new tacoma up. I missed my last baby.

Thanks for the article but is the headlight bulb both high and low beam in one?

    Welcome to 3rd gen!

Yes there is a seperate highbeam/lowbeam bulb. I'm using two different Amazon LED bulbs (Sealight and Carover I think..), no issues at all yet.

Fog lights can be turned on independently of the headlight as well. Not sure about using an H11 in the H16 slot though if you say its the same it, I dont see why not. I bought H16 specific bulbs since the price didnt really differ.

It's the mega thread on different tests. The bulb in the projector housing is your low beam and the other bulb is your high beam (if that's what you are asking). I use the same LED in each, although the low beam is H11 and the high is H9.

I'm not sure what you mean about the fogs coming on independently of the headlights. There's a switch on the turn signal stalk that operates the fogs. Why you'd want fogs on without headlights is beyond me though. (If that's what you meant)

Get the britebox if you want to control the fog lights independently
