Had a 99 taco I totalled in a hurry 4 years ago. Sad day. Been in a tundra since the wreck but was over the full sized. Just got a 2020 DCLB OR in ice cap AND moved back to Big Sur from Sacramento. So it's been a while since I have been active on here.
Any 3rd gen issues that I should be aware of?
Bone stock except for the transmission is current flash.
Also I can't post in the fender flare thread bc I don't have enough street cred (50 posts) but if someone has white and wants OR black im game
    Thanks.

Welcome back, just drive and maintain it. If you do even the slightest digging around here, you’ll find many folks scratchin’ for an itch, it’s reliable.

    Welcome back to a Tacoma!
I had a similar experience. I had a second gen for years and loved it then went with an F150 and couldn’t wait to get back to a Tacoma.

Just read some mod forums…you’ll find plenty to do to your truck. Just watch that pocket book!!

It's kind of goofy, but If you post something for sale/trade (without the 50 posts) you will get banned. I found out the hard way...I love when someone makes a rule that makes 'zero' sense. That said, I would love to hear from the 'rule' maker why they 'think' it's necessary.

I believe it’s to prevent people from joining solely to sell or trade something and then never posting or contributing to the knowledge base here as a true member of the Tacoma community.

to expound on this- many sites are this way, it is usually not to force them to become active, rather require a very small investment to keep out crooks and spammers, in an attempt to help protect good members of the community.
Again, this gets barked about often, but is common practice, and if you have ever been to a forum without? A necessity.
disclaimer; I don't speak for this forum,, this is a common practice.

There was a dude doing it the other day…trying to get to 50 posts on the day he joined. It was so annoying, he was digging up 2 year old threads about total BS and posting worthless replies.

Every time I refreshed the home page, his name was the last post in the top 4 or 5 threads.

I called him out in one of the threads but I never did figure out what he was trying to sell. Maybe he got banned.

I had a 2nd gen before this. It was a complete pos. 2012 pinged for octane worse than any vehicle I've ever owned. Took me 10 years to consider another Toyota. It was a known issue for the year but toyota would not address it. Sold it after 11 months. Eventually I heard Toyota reflashed the computer and all was good.

I get it. I was active for me last time, and have posted a few here since rejoining. But I am still a ways off of 50, just seems a little excessive. But eveyone has something to gripe about, hopefully this will be my only thing!
Going to build some sliders, then a tonneau cover until I find a cap I like enough to mortgage the house again to pick one up, $$$.
other than that stock until the stock OR struts need replacing, then down the rabbit hole I go....

There used to not be this rule here. One post and you could buy sell and trade. HOWEVER, a guy came here selling a lot of stuff, people bought it and the guy disappeared with the money. This rule is to prevent stupid shit like that.

Sweet. I have a great one if you are interested. Spicy because I use blinker fluid as my secret ingredient.
Trying to figure out how to find stuff in the for sale section without going through each post. Need to figure better search querys.
