After dealing with low back pain for 20 years or more, I had back injections today. I've heard of mixed reviews on this, but I'm hoping it works. Anyone else had this done?

I know a few people using stem cells with awesome results.

My wife uses injections in her neck , and that makes her tolerable.

I hear Joe Rogan talking it up all the time. If I could only afford it. I'm not that bad yet but I'm not getting better.

Back injections is very vague. There are several different types of injections that can be done from botox to steriods to anesthetics and paralytics.

Most comonly are steriod injections to treat pain (they do not treat the medical conditions causing the pain).

I’m pretty dead set against steriod injections because they damage cartilage tissue between the bones but if they would safely delay or prevent surgery I’m open.

So far the times I’ve been offered them they would do nothing to change the fact that I needed surgery so I passed.

I'm at the point where I needed fusions in my lower back. The injections are a last ditch effort at not having surgery. I believe he called them facet blocks. Only on day 2, but I can tell a difference. He said it may take a week or so to feel the full effects.

I had shots in my lower back and hip about 10 years ago. Wasn't cortisone but was in the same family the doctor said, and it helped a ton. Problem for me is ruptured disc and other things. Shot wont fix my problem will need surgery but man did it help. Worked for about a year with little to no pain, the started bothering me again for about a year more until I got shots again. Second round of shots helped but not like the first. Year or two later got a third round of shots, did not help at all. Doctor says all of that is normal. Will need surgery but am putting it off for now. Long story short is the shots were totally worth it for me. They gave me a few years with little to no pain.

I had it done. Tethered nerve, but they have to try this first, as it is much lower cost than surgery. Surgeon actually told me it was useless in most cases, but his hands were tied.

It did nothing for me, but the anesthetic they used helped the pain for a few hours.

I had surgery 3 weeks later, Lumbosacral radiculopathy at S1 on the right side. 4 years later, I am still pain free.
