Does anyone have a photo of the back of an HVAC panel? I think there's something missing from mine. Specifically the insert that channels the light from the 2 bulbs. I installed LED's to enhance the color and readability, all I ended up with was two brighter "hotspots" of light...

    ...we'll get there.
you may be getting hotspots because of the directional light being emitted from the LEDs. The original bulbs shoot light out in all sorts of directions (so it is more diffuse, and lights the panel more evenly), while the LEDs you installed are likely shooting the light in one direction (more or less...). Hence, hotspots.

Just a theory, but an educated one.

PMFBI, if the display you are showing in your post is from a 1998 Tacoma, I'd like to know what brand and model it is. I'm considering getting one for my 1998.
