With my 2017 Tacoma back seats down, things just slide and scratch around. Was thinking to about taking back plastic pieces off and spraying them with spray bedliner.

    Thoughts?

I picked up a cheap yoga mat from Wally World and cut it to fit. Works great. Nothing slides now. Just feel the mats and get one that feels tacky.

I bought some rubber diamond plate texture sheeting in a roll, cut pieces to fit in the indents in the seat backs, then attached using double-sized high strength industrial tape (I didn't want to mess up the seats with a liquid adhesive in case i changed my mind)

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
I built a platform for my dog. Keeps her from sliding and scratching, and let's me retain the use of the storage compartments.

when you took the back rests out for the back seats, did you have to take both out at once? I was looking into taking the driver side completely out but all the videos and guides I found showed pulling both sides out as once piece after removing that back plastic stuff.

I left the back rests installed for the occasional time I have passengers. I just folded them forward, and built these to fit on top.

Correct. It folds flat, and slides right out if I need to put the seats up. The railway spikes just keep it from opening if I have to brake hard. I've since replaced the railway spikes with a bungee strap. They're pretty hefty, and I'd rather not have them flying around the cab in a roll-over accident.

Looks great. That was a good idea and looks like it may have came from the factory like that from the picture.

Do you happen to have the dimensions of the sections? It would save me from cutting up a lot of good wood.

    Thanks

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
    Big Seat: 32.5" x 24"
    Big Backrest: 32.5" x 17.5"

    Small Seat: 20.5" x 24"
    Small Backrest: 20.5" x 17.5"

It ends up being a touch wider with the carpet, but it's a good tight fit, so it doesn't slide around with the dog on it.

I would recommend putting it together, and making sure everything fits in the truck before carpeting, just in case you have to make an adjustment.

This is super clean! Nice work. Do you think it is possible to preserve the seatbelts with this mod? I like to use a seatbelt leash thing for my dog when driving.

I just ran out to have a look. One buckle under the large seat can be maneuvered up. It's tight, but you could probably cut a hole in the bottom of the backrest to gain access. The other buckle is too short.

The other option is that the two hooks circled in red are designed to secure an infant car seat. You might be able to put a hole in line with one of those to install a dog seatbelt. I've been thinking of the same thing, myself.
