Back Spacing

I am planning on getting some 16 inch Pro Comp 7089's for my first gen this spring,I have the billy's in the front set at 2.5 and i plan on getting bigger tires in the future. i'm just wondering how much back spacing i could have w/o having to worry about rubbing?

the ones that i searched would fit have 4.5 back spacing and i currently have 265/70 r16 tires on

 

4.5 Backspacing with 0 offset

that'll allow a 285 (33" tire)

 

^^That would be a 4.5" backspace on a ?? x 8 rim. If you go with a 9" rim, you'll get a 4.5" backspace with a -12mm offset.

 

how big a tire are you planning to get later?

for a 1st gen, 4.25" or 4" would look better and will clear 285-75s

 

4 inch backspacing will help prevent rubbing. get an 8 inch wide rim unless you are getting some huge tires

 

i would plan on getting 285/75 tires and i do like the look of the wider stance and would get 8 inch rims as well

 

then definitely look into a 4" backspace wheel....
