I think you will see smaller unibody trucks in the near future made off a car or small SUV platform, think Ford and Hyundai have them coming in the next year or two.

 

In that case that's funny...

 

I am in the midst of upgrading from a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek to a 2021 TRD OR and I think the Crosstrek has been a good little vehicle for 4.5 years.

 

For sure, that’s what is making me hesitate a bit on making the jump.

 

The RAV is nice and spacious and gas mileage is great. I mountain bike, snowbaord, and I might get a dirt bike so the Tacoma fits my lifestyle a bit better. Although if I don’t get a dirt bike, I could get away with keeping the RAV.

 

I'm not being snarky here- but, maybe you should lease if you like a nice new vehicle every year or so? I'm not sure it makes sense, but maybe check and see. My buddy's sister does this, she makes good money, likes a fresh new car and usually a different type of vehicle every every 24 months, so she just leases and accepts that's the cost of her wanting a new ride often.

 

So the goal was to keep my 2019 but it kept having all those issues. The plan was keep it for 10plus years. I should have gotten another Tacoma at the time but went for the XSE since it was being sold fairly cheap by private party.

Leasing is definitely an option I could look into. I signed some paperwork but from what I understand, nothing is final until I go through the financial department and drive off the lot.

I come from a family of subarus (legacy, outback and foresters) and Toyota’s (highlanders and sequoias). Honestly haven’t ever had a bad Toyota or Subaru

Just curious, what were the issues with the 19?

 

- Fuel pump replaced twice
- Idle pulley was bad
- CV boot leak
- Engine clicking that never went away
- something else I can’t recall at the moment
All that was under 20k miles and once I sold it, I saw it at the dealer for repair a week later. It left me stranded once so I was like wtf!

 

Jesus, thats horrible.

Had none of those issues on my 18, i have been very happy wity it actually.

 

Honestly, I think I just got unlucky. Part of me does hesitate to get the ‘21 but so many people have had zero issues with their tacos.

The dealer has gone silent so I wonder if they’ve sold it out under me or what’s going on.

 

I know a couple guys personally with 17 and 19 tacos and they both had 0 issues. One has 60k miles and he goes off pavement quite a bit.
