Could definitely be better. Probably one of the worst cameras I’ve had on a vehicle haha but I’m glad to have it rather than not.

We'll look back on these lowly images in 10 years and think to ourselves man how did I ever do it with that shitty of quality!

At least that's what I think of whenever I see VHS movies on screen playback.

Has anyone found a camera replacement yet for 360' sets? I agree with the user above me that mentioned it looks like someone smeared vasoline all over my lens.

Like others have said. It’s adequate. Should only be used when backing into tight places. It’s a truck. Not a luxury car

My camera quality is worse than my wife’s ‘20 rav4. I think you’ll survive. Drive the thing; enjoy the thing. If you bought it for the camera, maybe buy a mirrorless Sony?

Yeah first thing I noticed image was not sharp. I even cycled through the different views. Coming from a lexus it was much different.

I try not to depend in the tech but it should be better image.

I agree! Using my backup camera, I could back into any stall knowing how close I am to other cars or obstructions. I could come within 4” of a wall behind me. I could back out of a tight parking stall knowing I have enough clearance to back out and pull forward. All this due to the great backup camera that I had in my 2018 Camry LE. I have no problem backing into stalls on any vehicle without backup cameras. 30 years of Smith Driving System training at work and mandatory back-in/pull-out of parking stalls with no backup camera made it natural. But, with a back up camera makes a huge difference in safety and ease of backing.

The backup camera in my 2022 Tacoma TRD Sport is very disappointing for a truck that cost twice as much as my Camry. It is very hard to believe this is what Toyota Corporation intended to put in these trucks. I wish I had my Camry to compare it to. The dealer asked me to bring it in so they could look at it but I want to read the manual first to see if I am missing something. I came in here hoping to find answers so I don’t have to read the manual, lol. There is a contrast and light adjustment but I don’t notice much difference when changing the settings. I do not see touch screen wide angle buttons on the lower left of the screen. During bright daylight or when I am backing up against a white wall, the sunlight and tail light glare makes it look like I am using night vision lenses in bright daylight. When I get a chance I will check out my friends 2022 TRD sport and other 2022’s if their back up cam’s are similar. If they are Toyota needs to know about this because I don’t believe this passes Toyota’s quality standards.

I want to add, the screen quality on my Tacoma is much better than my Camry based on music and navigation apps I use. Also I don’t believe the Tacoma backup ap has lane lines that turn with the steering wheel. Also the depth or distance perception is really bad.

Backup camera image quality and resolution--my wife's 2012 Camry (excellent), my 2018 Tacoma (good), my 2022 Tacoma (sucks).

Back up camera in a 2022 is significantly worse/harder to use than a 2017. Was the first thing I noticed when starting up the 2022 model truck. Anyone have a solution?

The back up cameras on the Tacoma's SUCK BIG OL WIDE OPEN ASS!! There I said it.

It's especially embarrassing when anyone/everyone riding with you asks what's wrong with your back up camera, why is it so blurry, it looks like shit, are you sure the lens isn't dirty, Tacomas suck, did you want this truck or just settle for it.

I say well I dont drive in reverse so a clear, normal looking reverse camera isn't really needed like all the other vehicles have made in the last 5 years. After the awkward silence I say, I wish I had roll down windows too.

Well…we’re you able to back up without hitting anything? Sounds like the camera was good enough to do the job it’s intended to do then. You don’t need a 4k display to see if there’s something behind you.

I cant fully rely on the camera when backing up anymore, have to look in the mirrors to double check.

I dont "NEED 4K" That's your justification for the shitty, blurred back up cameras Toyota is selling in their Tacomas?

My buds Ford Pinto's back up cameras looks great compared to the Tacomas Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Cloudy Cateract induced, Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy looking back up cameras.

It wasn't required until I got the 2022 model.

We need a solution to improve the camera quality.

If you are backing up and not using mirrors you shouldn’t have a drivers license.

If you need to use mirrors to back up you shouldn't have one either.

The back up camera on my 2021 TRD Sport Premium works fine. I can back up in the garage and see everything clear not blurry or whatever others describe. I do use the mirrors but the camera comes in handy when backing up to trailer. Works great at night too.
