Is there a way to turn off the fish eye mode on the 360 view equipped trucks?. Traded my 2019 limited on a 2023 limited and absolutely hate how bad the new backup camera is compared to my 2019. Did not use the camera before signing the paperwork. Probably would've been a deal breaker if I had seen how bad it was before making the deal.

That looks quite a bit better. What cameras and mounting schemes did you use?

I noticed the difference in camera picture quality between my 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro and 2023 Tacoma TRD Pro. The bottom of the image goes dark. Just wanted to let everyone know, maybe it’s a problem with the new cameras.

18 pro and I thought the camera had something wrong with it. It displays weird contrast colors, the proximity box is way wider than the truck which constantly throws off my parking. It’s terrible and handles weather terribly as well. I myself, and probably many others are not complaining, just pointing out how crappy the bu camera is.

I'm going to research if there is a way to upgrade the cameras (within the stock housings/mounting points if possible). It'd be awesome if we could figure this out and bring the image quality into the 21st century lol. I'm hoping that others who are so inclined might join in and we can revive the ops original intention with this thread.

Not without changing mounts and wiring harnesses I don't believe.

I've seen yt videos where guys have either replaced the 360 cameras or added kits to 3G trucks that came without it stock using the factory head unit and the clarity is much better.

Contrary to opinions stated earlier in the thread, I don't believe the problem lies with screen resolution or processing capability.

Nothing wrong with my '17 camera. Matter of fact it's even better now with the "anytimebackupcamera" kit, having a front camera hooked up too.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I check that before entering the vehicle. I’m that good

This is a bit old, but you are joking right? A back up camera is much much safer to use than mirrors. I’d argue you don’t need to use mirrors either when backing up with the camera. Obviously look out the side windows for cross traffic, but your mirrors aren’t really going to offer much more than you camera does.

No, it’s not a joke. I back up using my side mirrors, rear mirror, camera and over the shoulder head turning both ways. Pretty much the same way it was done before cameras existed but now with the inclusion of scanning the backup image to see what it shows.

Ha. I’m the total opposite. Like I said I check out the side for oncoming cars since those won’t show up in the mirror, but other than that I use the camera 100%. I’ve gotten so used to it I hate reversing my wife’s car because I feel like I can’t see anything.

I guess I should surrender my license at this point. :notsure:

Never had a backup camera before so I have no complaints, I still look around behind me before I back out though. It is nice for hooking up a trailer!

The only way to improve the image is to replace BOTH
A higher res camera alone will not do it. The limiting factor is the pretty crappy screen in the head unit. I added a higher res front camera and it's still the same as the rear.

These pics are very similar to my 2020 OR with just the back up camera. Not great but certainly usable--and yes I wish they were better.

Yes. Mother-in-law's '19 Rav4 screen is tons better than mine. It's like there is a saturation setting (or more) missing from the Tacoma. Mine sees best on a slightly overcast day.

The camera quality makes me feel like I'm landing Apollo 11. I think I can see that I'm about to crash into the moon, but I have no idea what I'm really looking at.
