My back up camera seems to have a little problem
    I have a 2008 double cab 4x4 sr5 trd.
The camera is factory and the lens is in the middle of tailgate.
Problem i am having is here lately it looks like lines running thru the monitor and in heavy rains like its under water.
The monitor is in rear view mirror.
Any tips would be great, thanks in advance.

sometimes on mine, the lens/cover on the camera gets dirty which causes image problems on the screen. i wipe it off and its fine. could that be the case on yours?

Mine is on a 2010 DC. I have the same thing when it rains. Just wipe it off periodically and it's fine. As for the lines, you may have pinched the wires that feed up into the tailgate. When I bought my truck last summer, it came with an extra camera wiring harness and some instructions so I'm guessing there have been a few problems. Check with the dealer though.

mirror going bad too? I don't know how easy that would be to check, but if the "TV" portion is dying it could cause those problems.

Sounds like a bad connection or wire. Try unplugging and plugging back in all of the connectors in the tailgate and mirror.

Any pics of the tailgate camera, it sounds aftermarket and starting to fail from water corrosion at a connector under the truck.
