I bought my 05 Tacoma without the piece for the latch to grab ahold of and actually lock the window. When I went to Toyota they informed me I would have to buy a whole new back window  all over a small plastic piece. They couldn't even tell me the manufacture of the back window so I could possibly buy it off of them. Does anyone know where I could find this part? I already checked my local salvage yard.

There was a post on here a couple of days ago, about a member who made a window lock bar from an arrow shaft.
Search for "sliding rear window lock bar".

User was mchalk13. Kinda like putting a broom handle in a home sliding glass door.

Probable will have to go to the dealer for that part.

I make and sell a bar that secures the sliding window.

Get a wood dowel from your local hardware store, cut to size and drop it in the window track, window will be secured.

I agree but it only takes a few minutes to break into the factory latch.

With a wood dowel or window bar the only way in is to break the window.

I KNOW you would like to have both options and i can not fault nor blame you for that. I would recomend checking out some of the local salvage yards in your area you may get lucky. Here is the link to what I made the other day to help keep intruders out. I fully understand the want of having the latch regardless of weather or not it works well to keep people out.

Mine fell apart just like yours at around 45,000 mi. I tried using plastic repair to weld it to the trim piece, but it won't adhere. Ended up buying a wooden dowel at home depot and cut it to size for both sides. It would be nice if the latch and window trim were actually just one piece. This is probably my only big complain about my truck and probably the only thing that has broken so far.
