LOL! But OP in my opinion I'd claim it. Tailgate damage, bedside damage and bumper ruined, not to mention any sort of damage that we can't see, AKA bumper mounting locations and such. To do this professionally and get it all painted is going to cost you more than the $500 or $1000 deductible that you have on your insurance. Take it to a shop first and get a quote from them before you file any claims. That's probably the easiest thing to do.

    Uhhh, okay.

Op the junk yard is the perfect place to find a pat for your truck. Nothing wrong with it. Also aloft of body shops will use junk yard parts for older vehicles because it drastically lowers the customers cost. Offcourse they do give you the option.

If it was a insurance claim, the company often will only pay for referbished parts. (tryed to do that to my is350 when i was rearended.

People telling you to go to the junkyard are only trying to help you.

i never said i wanted to be ripped off, knowing whats wrong and a possible ball park estimate is a step in either paying someone a fair price or being screwed.

When I was rear-ended last year in my 2005 Tacoma. A replacement chrome bumper was $250 at the Toyota auto body shop.

If you want to fix it on the cheap, then look in Junkyards or check your area for Recycled bumpers. As for the body work, check with 3 local shops for estimates. Use Kudzu.com to find reputable shops.

I think it's an Elite Offroad bumper. Just Googled a "representative" pic. No endorsement of any specifc vendor implied.

    THANK you.

Bend the metal so the tailgate clears, sand and duplicolor the area where some rust is forming, say "fuck it" and move on with your live.

This is stupid and isn't helpful advice at all. Believe it or not there are people out there that can use their trucks as trucks and not beat the shit out of them in the process. When unfortunate things like this happens they like to get things fixed properly. Since the OP is asking for general pricing information on getting it fixed then clearly he's not the "bend it" and "fuck it" type. I'm not opposed to that type of mentality myself but that's a different story.

This thread reminds me that I haven't gone to the local PickNPay to see if they have any nice '02's since I got my truck. I'm with everyone here saying it's worth a try.
