I have gone through multiple threads but I need more/cant find an answer. I have done a visual check of the wire. I have checked and cleaned the connection under the bed, in the tailgate and the one inside the camera housing. All seem fine. I get blue screen on mirror then nothing. How do I trace the problem? Is it the camera itself? Is it the reverse switch? Is it the mirror?
I'm leaning towards the camera itself because it would work intermittently with tailgate open/closing but now nothing. I thought it was going to be a simple wiring issue but I cant find anything. Help! I laughed at backup cameras but now I really miss it.

Are your reverse lights still turning on when your camera isn't?

I would say you probably have a connection or camera issue. I'd go through and check the connections going back towards the camera and see if you can find anything. I believe it was a common issue that a connection somewhere would loosen up and cause the bluescreen.

Multimeter, check voltage at camera at the gate, and check under the bed the cam connector if its well connected. Just follow the wire from tlunder the gate.

Then investigate google where is the camera connector under the steering wheel next to fuses.

Next take out head unit and check if the HU sends voltage or signal to cam

So I have checked connections at tailgate and they seem fine. Wires are all intact. The tailgate harness at the camera is getting low voltage readings when in reverse - around 1.8. Tried new camera. Still getting blue screen. What next?

Apologies for the thread interruption but im on a similar goose chase. Im trying to troubleshoot my own back up camera issues (truck didn't come with a working one). Can you possibly be post a picture of the connection that runs from your tailgate to the truck? As you can see in the pics below im missing something:IMG_7403.jpg IMG_7404.jpg

Sorry no photo of that connection. But I can tell you the white connector you show connects to the male 4 blade connector under the bed. The black connector connects direct to the camera.

This is the male 4 blade connector that connects to the white plug you are showing. It is passenger side right behind rear bumper. It comes off the wire loom that goes to rear lights. The connections you show should be on either end of a short wiring harness inside the tailgate that allows you to disconnect for tailgate removal. Again the black plug connects into camera in the tailgate.

so strange. Mine just has the female coming out from the bed. No white male end whatsoever. Looks like an aftermarket towbar was installed, but not sure, why the camera set up would change.

Ok jokes aside, does anyone know what the fuck is going on? I can't seem to find anyone that has the black female connector coming out of the bed like that. Are the 2011's wired different than 12-15 models? The tailgate is not original, but that shouldn't change what's running from the bed.

ok maybe I can try to explain. The reason why they call it a male is because it looks like it has a peepee, while they call it a female because it has nothing that looks like a peepee.

Do you have an OEM camera in the tailgate? If you do plug it in to that black connection see if you get a picture.

i have a 2010, i just found the plugs shown. I had a crappy ass image ever since i had my frame replaced and couldn't figure it out. well i saw these pics today and figured id look. Sure as shit when they were taking it apart or putting it back together whey pulled the white wire out of the Deutsch connector, couple of heat shrink butt connectors and 2" of wire to bypass the connector and its perfect again.

so im willing to bet that the '11 and '10 are wired the same way, its literally right under the tailgate about a foot, maybe 18" from the passenger side tail light tucked up and a plastic clip is holding it up against the frame
