    Hi all!

I have a master tailgaters backup camera already installed to the truck.
The power to the camera comes from the taillight wires, but I wanted to add a switch that would turn on the camera while I´m driving.

My question is, how do I send power to the camera while I´m driving without turning the backup lights on?
    Is this possible?
    Thank you in advance!

There’s an anytime camera mod available. This video should provide the links.

also, browse the vids she posts. There’s another mod made by someone here that cuts the license plate lights to cut the glare when switching to the camera

A relay and a diode would be my first choice, I guess.

I mocked up this schematic to see if anyone can check it. Nevermind the values, I just want to see if it would work.
    Thank you!

Hood Struts, My version Fogs always ON, Map & Overhead Light Mod,
The camera is always ON, after ign. The reverse circuit's input to the head unit is what activates the video feed. So your diagram is useless. You want to send a trigger(input) to the reverse wire of the head unit without activating any system tied to the reverse circuit.

Unless my taillights are always on I’m pretty sure my camera isn’t always on.
The only power cable going to the camera comes straight from the light power cable

On my ‘02 Tundra with that MC pricey tailgate handle camera dealio, I ran power to the cab. It’s currently on one of the power sockets but I’ll do an in cab aux fuse box. So the remaining bit is triggering the input to the head unit. You want a logical OR for on in reverse or on when requested. PAC makes a camera select module or the same 12v ignition switched circuit can feed camera power and power to the switch which triggers the camera on the head unit.

I don’t have my anytime setup in the Tundra yet but I have a switch, front camera and the PAC. I’d go with the ABC switch of rectangular spots are an option. FGT only has oval so I’m a bit limited.

For the camera you have installed, you are correct.
Again, the head unit that shows the video needs a reverse input to activate the feed. You should change the camera power to an fused ignition source, not the tail light circuit.
