I posted this problem on another thread but, I thought I would get better responses if I made its very own thread.

I have been trying to install my Koolertron license plate camera to my Pioneer avh-4300. I got everything wired to the right places have the acc wire hooked up to the reverse wire on the HU.

Went to test everything out, and it worked perfectly when I put it in reverse. BUT, it doesnt return to the home screen when I put it in drive or any other gear. It's just a black screen that still has the "caution: objects may be reversed" yada yada. I have to touch the screen to get it back. AND THEN, the black screen will pop up every 5 seconds!!! I have to turn the camera off on the aux settings to make it stop.

I've been looking on any site to get some help but havent found much help. any ideas would be appreciated!

Update: I also connected the red/white wire in the kick panel (same wire thats powering the camera) to the HU reverse wire and now the screen goes back to the home screen when not in reverse. BUT, the black screen still pops up every 5 seconds.

tap the trigger wire on your camera to the reverse light itself.

yeah, pretty much. just tie into the positive wire on the reverse bulb and it should ONLY come on when you're in reverse. hopefully

    Thanks! I got it figured!

This isn't a cool solution, but someone told me to reset the HU first and then set all the video settings before throwing it in reverse and that actually worked!! It was such a headache and such an easy answer. I appreciate the help!

Also, There's a little red wire coming off the end of the yellow RCA on the side connected to the HU. I wired that into the purple/white wire (I think thats the color, it should have a label for backup camera) from the HU wiring harness.

When I tried to figure out my problem, someone told me to run another wire from the red/white wire where the power is hooked up to those other two wires i mentioned (purple/white and red). so theres 3 wires together. It seemed to turn the camera on/off faster!!

Sorry if that's a little difficult to understand but everything works perfectly now!!

P.S. make sure the yellow RCA goes to the BROWN plug behind the HU. Its labeled RCI i think. (Reverse Camera Input)
