Is there a backup camera upgrade (OEM or not) for a '14 Tacoma? I'm looking for a plug and play thing, literally change out the camera and get a better picture, both night and day.

Also, can someone suggest a backup lighting system? Looking to light up reverse a LOT more.

Which head unit do you have? My '15 has the non-JBL Entune display and I find that the rear cam display is actually quite good, even compared to some newer cars.

The only thing that would make it better would be higher resolution, but that means you have to change both the display and the lens.

Yes, the head unit is an Entune, non GPS model. I don't think it says JBL anywhere on it. I hate it. I had not considered that the head model might be involved in a better picture, and seeing as how this is my second one, I can't replace it again.

Post a pic of what your reverse camera image looks like.

In my 2004 4Runner, I upgraded to a 2016 Scion head unit. My backup camera still looks like a 2004 camera. I mean it works but it basically looks like it did with the oem head unit.

I’d guess it’s the camera itself. But interestingly, I have a 2014 Tacoma as well and think the camera looks great. Maybe your camera lense got messed up by the elements somehow?
