Hi. I connect my trailer to the second generation 2010 Tacoma (equipped with a factory towing package) and for my surprise the backup light don’t work. I suspect to the trailer but it is ok, so I found that the signal in the 7-pin connector don’t work. I tested it by put the truck in reverse and I can see the stock backup light turning on in to the truck but no signal in the towing plug. I check all the fuses and are all ok!
I check the electrical diagram and I can not find any fuse for that connection only, it is supposed to be connected to the same wire all three connections (left white backup light, red white backup light and the center connector of the 7-pin factory pin)
I found a posting where one complain about the same issue but he just use the wire from the lamp to solve the problem.
Someone found a problem like me?
    Thanks!

I thought I read somewhere that there is a TSB for a missing relay. Maybe someone on here can chime in with more info. Good luck.

Yep...had the same problem. Missing back up relay from the factory 2010 prerunner sport. Took it to the dealer...fixed with no questions asked!

Defective relay, took to the dealer and fix it under warranty.

Looks like the quality control or final inspection before to deliver the truck isn’t too good...

Apparently, many trucks were manufactured without including the back up light relay when factory towing package was orderd. Relay is right behind the glove box. Toyota relay part # is 90080-87026. This relay is about $70 at the dealer or $15 at Autozone (Duralast # 41-5465). This is same relay as fog light relay.

Any pictures of where this relay is supposed to be plugged in?

Reminds me of the tow package ford did on my f150. Everything was installed but if you wanted to actually tow you still needed the last bits, relay in the box and connection for the brake controller to the trucks wiring. 10 or $20 bag of parts that should have already been installed with the, i dont know, tow package.

Ok, it works....ordered the relay, and this is where you plug it in.
