How do you think this would turn out if you wrapped it tightly with 5-6 layers of foil and cooked it on or over a campfire?

The group i usually camp with (we camp year round), we typically do a potluck dinner, last time i made a roast like that, marinated for 2 days in the fridge, wrapped in multiple layers of foil, and cooked it in the fire. Took about 2 hours and it was awesome.

I'd like to do a Bacon Explosion for next time, but i'm worried if i don't wrap it properly, all that grease will lead to an extreme flareup and a waste of about $25 of pork.

Any thoughts? Or alternate idea to cook it out in the woods?

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
Man I'd love to make one of those. But I feel like I'd need to run a couple of marathons first.

Not much yet, got a pretty good sound system w/ my custom sub box. Plan on adding more lights & a tool box.
Do you have a Dutch oven? You'd have to raise the "explosion" off of the bottom, but I'd bet that would work.
Might have to remove from oven & finish it on a rack to get things crispy.

i didn't think of a dutch oven, but that is a good idea.

I was also tossing the idea around of precooking it at home, and then bringing it out, reheat and serve.

would that just be a nasty mess?

This thread had has been a little dead for the last two months, but I wanted to show off some of my pictures that I had taken of the infamous Bacon Explosion.

Thanks to Neon, I impressed some guests with a massive artery clogging Bacon Explosion.

Here are a few pictures I took throughout the whole process.

Cooked on a charcoal grill for around 1 hour and 45 minutes. Damn was it good. Oh yea, and there pieces of chopped bacon crisps on top of the sausage layer, some how I managed to not get a photo of it. Mmmmm good stuff.

    Thanks for the recipe Neon!

bone stock save for the block lift that came on it with the open country m/t.
one of these days I will post the pics of mine, I did it on labour day, my friends "dared" me to do it:rolleyes: but alas, it was not hard to make, I couldn't find any pork sausage to my liking, so I subbed for ground pork. I did not quite reach "pork nirvana" but I was close. Needless to say, I know I haven't been so excited about eating something that good in a long time. I still talk about it at work, and people I tell about it can't believe that I made it, oh well, their loss. :D
