wow, amazing houses. Subbed so I can turn green with envy as I am still going to school.


Sometimes I wonder:

If I bought a certain amount of bricks/stone/cement or what have you, every month, for let's say 3 years, spending no more than $200. (This is just an example and storage for the material not being an issue).

How much material would I amass over that period of time? Would it be enough for a good size house? Would that be more expensive that buying all the necessary material in one shot? Would it be worth the investment?

What are y'alls opinions on that? ^^^

 

why not just save the money and buy it all at once and get a bulk discounted rate?

 

Anything with timber, stone, and water will suit me. This first one is remarkable for how integrates so much open space and glass in a modern style and then uses so much wood seamlessly on the underside of the roof/ceiling. It is open but creates an enclosed area that makes you feel safe, which is what good spaces do.

This is awesome in a mountain lodge, but a bit too grandiose for a "home" I think. Should give OZ-T wood, so to speak.

Very nice take on modern form and natural materials.

I hear these lots have limited availabilty.

Been to Falling Waters (the first house in the OP) a few times. amazing from both an architectural standpoint, as well as engineering.


here's a house we're currently building for a client. spent 2 years designing it, and now we're at the 2.5 yeah mark of construction. a little over 14,000 square feet, with no spared expense. we also built them a top of the line, 3,000 square foot barn for their horses, that is nicer than most houses (including mine )
it should really come together nicely once we get to the point at which landscaping can happen without being destroyed by work trucks and front end loaders.

 

It's what I ultimately figure, just always wondered about the previous post.

 

I like the idea, i just don't think it's practical. You have to have somewhere to store all the materials until your ready to build, and then move them to the building site. It's much easier to store money and you can make money from storing your money as well.

You guys can have you're simple or fancy house's. I'd rather spend all the $ on a garage that will hold my cars and truck, this garage would have to have all the tools and space for me to work along side my full time mechanic
