Has anyone experienced a battery going bad in a new Toyota? I went to start my 2020 taco and only the accessory lights came on the dash and the truck would rapidly click when trying to start. I had to jump start it to get it to the dealership. Because of the warranty I was able to get the battery replaced. The same thing happened in my mother’s 2018 Rav4 last year.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

My battery has not gone bad for me. 2017 with 2.5 years of daily service. I am hoping it goes bad someday. Then we can hang and cause trouble and stuff. A partner in crime. And the best part is you know no charge will stick to it:bananadance::D

My 2018 Tacoma TRD off road needed a battery at 22k miles, and 23 months old. It made it through 2 Arizona summers, which is average. Toyota replaced it under warranty. I've lived here for 25 years and only had 1 battery make it through 3 summers.

I got 10 months out of mine on my 2016 Tacoma. The free replacement was still good at trade in at 26 months.

I’m on number 4. Got a bunch of bad batteries. Haven’t had an issue with the last one. Last winter killed them all. I’d say normal, they’re shit batteries with low CCA and everything on the truck draws power. Even with the hood open it’ll turn on a dummy light in the dash

Anything, at anytime can fail, including humans. It's unfortunate, but it happens. If it happens again, you've got a problem.

You have a problem with whatever you are doing or not doing with your truck. To say that they are shit batteries with low CCA's is totally wrong. Some batteries, as with anything mass produced, are going to fail, but to say that it is normal, is simply your human error. I can say that after 10 years of experience working for Interstate Battery.

I think I just got old batteries that were sitting for a while. Nothing is running off the batteries but the truck itself. I know how to wrench and run wiring in vehicles. Done it longer than you’ve been at interstate. How is it MY human error when Toyota did all the work and swapped them, even sent a tech to check the truck after the third. Was 20 below last year and one of the new battery they installed lasted 2 days before completely dead. Have no current draws that aren’t with in Toyotas parameters. Been through the truck multiple times. And they are shit batteries with low CCA.

Batteries or really anything electrical can be unpredictable. Typical car battery life is 5-7 years, but I've seen them die in 5 months, and I've seen them last 10 years.

Had my battery in my 2018 go after 18 months. I had (unknowingly) had my seat heaters on in ACC mode... Bosted fine but died twice more in less than a week, even after driving for a full hour after first incident.

Got it boosted for 3rd time and rolled into the dealer. They put a new battery in and voila, no issues after that.

I got about 40k miles off my OEM battery. That's not awesome, but I didn't start a new toyotaoembatteriessuck.com website, either. I just paid the Triple-A dude and thanked him for driving to the middle of nowhere to rescue me.
