No mud flaps? Is this a violation? I thought only big rigs were required to have mud flaps.

Any truck in AZ that has a non-factory lift installed is required to have mud flaps, as far as I know.

What I don't know, though, is the legal limit for tint on the two front side windows. Is it 20%, 5%? I know the backs can be as dark as you want.

So, what (if anything) do they do on subsequent violations?

I mean, say he 'borrows' legal tail lights to pass inspection, then re-installs his illegally modified taillights when he gets home. He gets a ticket for the same thing the next week or whatever. The original ticket didn't go away, it is still in the record. Will the prosecutor do anything different for ticket #2?

I see so many cars now days with tail lights that are completely black, sucks that you got caught, but it happens. I got cited recently for fishing with an expired license (only time i've even been approached by a park ranger in 10 years, and I usually do have a license) and that is A LOT more than a fix it ticket.

Just found the answer to my own question with a bit of searching. Apparently the legal limit for the front windows is 35% in Arizona.

Smoked tail light lenses, NO lenses, it is a safety issue, like those Goddamned HID's, 2 headlights with those retina melting HID's is bad enough but add to the mix 2 foggers with about the same intensity & you've got an accident waiting to happen , & before you all start slamming on me about it let it be known that yes I think they look pretty cool & all that & the illumination is off the scale but when its you coming from the other direction & have to deal with an oncoming vehicle thats got lights that'd light up a stadium at night, ain't so cool then, I don't know how the hell D.O.T. approved them for highway use..... isn't that right Mike ( 05offroad) ...:eek::eek:

I was behind a guy with expired tags, and a missing taillight eastbound on vanburen...thats the fuckwad who needs his ass pulled over...bet the motherfcuker driving doesnt even have a valid license...or citizenship.

his ass was glued to the 35mpg speed limit...everyone else was flyign by at 50 while I got stuck behind this dipshit fuckball.

sorry to hear you got cited for stupid tint laws, but can understand the taillights. mudflap laws are a cocksucking joke.

In other words: Mudflap laws are pretty stupid, but tail lights and tint laws do make sense.

I have 35% tint. The Commonwealth of Virginia says 50% max .... but I am 55 and don't attract attention to myself. If I were to be ticketed I would suck it up and pay.

We all know that many mods may not be in compliance with the local laws. As long as you know that when applied you need to be ready to pay the piper.

Having said that, I don't think swapping out tail lights for court, and then replacing them (that is the impression I got) is a good idea. As stated earlier that ticket is still on the books.

As I have gotten older I have learned to accept things a little easier. At the time I would be pissed.

Best of luck in whatever you decide.

I don't know about DOT, but in most places I think non-factory HIDs are illegal. The effect you describe comes from HIDs that were installed into factory housings, which spread the light all over the place. With proper HID projectors, there is a cutoff so that the light doesn't shine up into drivers eyes.

And I'm sure he got into his vehicle with limo tint all around after he got off his shift. Always get a kick out of the cops that cite people for shit they are guilty of as well.

This makes sense. Fix the tails to be within the law instead of tricking (defrauding/lying) to the court...

And I'm sure you generalize assumptions about other people will work occasionally...but if you take the number of cops who follow the rules versus the cops who take advantage of being a cop...your theory goes out the window.
