Hi, I'm getting the grinding noise from my front driver side when I turn to the left and also when slow braking, it sounds just like a front wheel drive car with bad CV joints.
The boots are perfectly fine, they look brand new, I think is the driver's side CV axle, the ECGS has been done since I thought it was that at first. Has anyone experienced something similar? What's a good replacement aftermarket axle, and also do I have to replace both of them or just the one that failed?

    Thanks.

    Erik

^Are you past 60k? Bad CV axle should be covered under the powertrain warranty.

Replacing just the failed side is fine.

Will they honor the warranty even if lifted? I have to call the dealer and speak to an advisor. I just hit 30K

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
There is nothing at the wheel side that could break up without noticing it at the boot. The outer joint is mechanically locked to the hub and the hub is locked to the wheel. The inner birf joint has 6 ball bearings in a cage. If you broke that cage then you would
    see the boot twisted.
Your wheel bearing is dead. Leave your CV alone.

Depends on the dealer and the specific tech working it. You tell them you have a grinding noise (or whatever you hear) and let them diagnose it. Both the CV and wheel bearing would be under the powertrain warranty if either happens to be the culprit.

From your post last month, check for a bent brake rotor dust shield.

Make sure the rotor guard is not touching or super close to the rotor, I’ve had that happen a time or two.
