Recently bought a 2006 Tacoma 4cyl 2wd manual with 170k from original owner. Today the CEL came on and came up with a code for a bad 02 sensor and i believe po606 for bad ECM. Truck still runs perfectly fine though... Local well known mechanic says it needs new ECM, $600 part new and $300 plus for labor. Truck is on his lot waiting for part (3-5days) and they gave me a loaner car for free. Im just worried I'm shelling out $1k for no reason because truck is running perfectly still. Any advice etc is much appreciated!

    Don't do it.
    I just had one.
A bad 02 CAN cause the bad ecu code to pop.
You need to read the freeze frame data and read the voltages from the 02 to determine if it is out of parameter. There is a tsb to help with this.
I have only seen this like 3 times and it was never the ecu.
If it's running ok I would be thinking only the 02 to start.
At least I would recommend some clarification from them.
